    1. Hard to say. If you buy it at the show it will be cheaper and an easier flip as a base has already been established. It has great crossover potential between comic fans and Joe fans. Plus it is the “death” of a key character. I just love the cover.

    2. Rise dramatically? For all we know it could drop dramatically in price. The thing about this issue is, we know it’s going to happen.. it’s not a sudden death shock (TMNT #44) so I think in some cases the demand won’t be as strong because when the deaths are known, the print numbers go up, more variants are being made, etc. So only time will tell.
My own take on this is, I would only buy to flip if I got at convention cover type price. If I bought one at the $24.99 price, it would probably just be one for the collection.

      1. Yeah great points, $24.99 is a huge gamble. Thanks for the input, guess I will just grab a regular cover copy for collection purposes!

  1. $24.99 is a huge gamble. With TMNT # 44, the variant price was $5.00(for me)….so there was very little risk in flipping it. And AgentPoyo is right about knowing the death ahead of time, even though there’s no “official” word on it happening in # 214. But it will; I foretold this weeks ago after seeing the subscription variant and reading “between the lines” of the solicits.
I would stick with the regular, sub variant, and 1:10 variant to flip.

  2. Also, it’s not like this variant will be rare. The 1:10 variant, I think, is rarer…. and cheaper.

  3. I’ve almost lost all interest in even attempting to get these myself. It’s like “The Death of Wolverine” series.. you know it’s going to happen. It’s them telling us how the story ends.. well, what’s the point in reading the story if you know what’s going to happen?
The TMNT though is the best approach.. no one really knew until it was released.. then there really wasn’t any confirmation he was dead, people just assumed.. then we see him in a preview for #45 in an ICU type bed with Splinter by his side.. does he die, does he wake up.. being left in the dark makes the story that much better.

  4. I think knowing that Snake Eyes dies before hand certainly kills the spec aspect of this book. People were able to preorder the book, so its not going to catch anyone by surprise. Poyo is right about TMNT #44, and G.I. Joe #214 isn’t going to be a TMNT all over again.
