The Rock confirms date of Shazam movie

Thanks to Comicbook.com for this one. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed the date for the upcoming DC Shazam movie.
This should help push prices back up on Shazam #1 (1973), the first DC appearance of Captain Marvel, as well as, Shazam #28 (1977), the first DC appearance of Black Adam.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed in a new interview that the Shazam movie, which he’ll star in as Black Adam, will come sooner than expected.
This won’t come as much of a surprise as The Rock has previously implied to MTV in March that Shazam is not beholden to the 2019 release date WB gave it back in October of 2014. Now, The Rock is sounds much more confident.
“No, I don’t think it is going to be that far away,” The Rock said when asked if fans will have to wait until 2019 to see Shazam. “It’s going to be earlier than that. I don’t think 2019.”

  1. Glad I picked up a bunch of Shazam #28 a while back before the Rock was confirmed. With that, if they want to have it out before 2019 they are going to have to move pretty fast and get it started.

      1. Not lately… I started buying what I could find about two years ago…Just had a gut feeling they would eventually get it done with the Rock.

  2. I, too, was unable to find any #28’s at a good price. I was able to get a big stack of #1’s from a few LCS’s in my area between $5-10 each. Condition of the books range from vf/vf+ to nm.

    1. Wow! Nice! May not seem like much yet, but even issue #1 will get a big boost the closer the movie gets to being released! Especially in high grade! That big stack is going to equate to a nice big profit!
