Jaden Smith outed as Static Shock by Tyler James Williams

Tyler James Williams, of Walking Dead most recently, has let leak that Jaden Smith, of Will Smith’s son fame, as Static Shock.
Comicbook.com had this one:

During a recent interview, actor Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead, Everybody Hates Chris) pointed out that “there aren’t a lot of young, black superheroes.” Two people in the background can be heard shouting to him “Static Shock” and “Spider-Man.” Those suggestions elicit an interesting response from Williams.
“I don’t know… What you’re taking about,” Williams says to Flicks And The City with a knowing smile. “But yeah no, it’s great to see Static Shock is happening with Jaden.”
The “Jaden” he refers to, is Will Smith’s After Earth co-star and real-life son Jaden. Back in October, Smith was rumored for Static Shock, which Warner Bros. has been developing as a live-action digital series with Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin.

Static first appeared in the Milestone series Static Shock #1. Collectors and speculators seem to be jumping on Static Shock #1 (DC, 2011) based on the number of copies selling today.

  1. Jaden Smith huh? that doesn’t make me very confident in what the end result will be. If I see a copy in the bins at my lcs I may give it a shot, but only if it is at cover price or lower.

  2. All cheap copies of Static # 1 have been snatched up on Ebay. Off to the LCS we go…..

  3. I know he’s still young but from all the movies he’s been in were just awful.. perhaps a little more acting classes might do him some good! Just because mom and dad can act doesn’t mean you’re automatically good at it yourself.

  4. He’s pretty annoying. He’s lucky to have daddy getting him all these roles. In a perfect world this would’ve been the first case of a casting actually making a comic book value go down…

  5. If you’re looking for Static’s first DC appearance, it’s TERROR TITANS # 3.

    1. I don’t understand. Terror Titans debuted in 2008. Static debuted in 1993. Milestone is a DC book. Static 1 has the DC label on it as well.

      1. Maybe it was the first appearance in the DC universe proper. I do remember a superman crossover before then when Milestone characters came over. Who knows. Pre-crisis, post-crisis, new 52, post convergence, hard to figure out sometimes.
