Friday The 13th TV Series eyed for the CW network

In news that really hit my fanboy side, Deadline reported the CW network would be making a Friday the 13th TV series. Of course this one would be more closely tied to the movies than the 1980’s show that had nothing in common but the name.

From Deadline.com:

The CW is heading to Crystal Lake. The network topper Mark Pedowitz today confirmed that the CW is developing Friday The CW Logo13th, a drama series based on the long-running feature franchise. The series adaptation will be written by Steve Mitchell & Craig Van Sickle, creators of the 1996 NBC series The Pretender through CBS TV Studios. “They are new in development,” Pedowitz told Deadline.

Much in the same way ‘Scream’ has been reimagined for MTV, Friday the 13th will be tweaked for the CW. The series would be more realistic and would be about “the ongoing quest of a detective’s search for his missing brother that is somehow tied to Jason Vorhees, a long thought dead serial killer who has now returned to wreak havoc in the new Crystal Lake.”

  1. I hear this and I get excited…but then I see CW and it makes me sad. How come I have a feeling this will involve a Vorhees love angle about who he’s picking to go to prom…..

  2. I agree on you on the whole CW choice. This would of been better in a cable network. But it’s Friday the 13th and can’t go wrong with that. When I was going up Friday the 13th, Freddy, and Michael where the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. I hated watching them but loved them at the same time lol. I guess we will have to wait and see where it all goes.

    1. If this was HBO or Showtime, i’d lose my mind with excitement. FX, AMC, i’d have extremely high hopes….I’ll wait and see but i’m ready to be disappointed.
