Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 9/2/15:
The Disney One
Figment 2 #1– Must pick up after the popularity of the last series. Plus, there is an action figure variant for the first issue, and they (may be played out) are all the rage.
The Random Marvel(man) one
Miracleman By Gaiman and Buckingham #1– Continuing to reprint the classic Miracleman stories. I know people got a little burned out waiting for the new stuff, but these are the reprints of the harder to find books.
The Double Down
Evil Dead 2 Beyond Dead by Dawn #2– Small print run on the first issue. Great to see Ash back in action, even briefly. TV show to start soon, I know it is based off a movie, but could have fans looking for Evil Dead Merch.
Evil Dead 2 Tales Of The Exmortis #1 New Ash-thology giving a sneak peak into the world of Evil Dead. Again, low print run on these.
The Pick of the Week
Plutona #1– New Image book, Jeff Lemire writing. I am all over this. The book has looked interesting from the preview that was released in the last Image expo freebie. This is a must pick up as it is sold out at many online retailers and only one listing on ebay.
Small Press Gem
Toil and Trouble #1– Witches are all the rage now with Snyder’s Wytches and Bunn’s Harrow County. This takes a different perspective. Taking a different view point of the three witches from Macbeth.
Returning Favorites
We Stand On Guard #3– Each subsequent issue has cranked up the action. The story has been really interesting. And let’s admit it, BKV. Nuff said.
Rachel Rising #36– The book has really found it’s footing again in the past couple of issues. I am in for the long haul as I am a big fan of Terry Moore.
This Damn Band #2- Funny concept, funny book. Need to see where this is heading. A band that pretends to worship Satan, turns out they actually are.
That is it for us this week, let us know what you are spec-ing on.
