Mark Millar’s Huck optioned for movie

Thanks to Mel V. for the reminder.

Huck, from Mark Millar, out tomorrow, has been already picked up for a movie. Not a huge surprise as most titles Millar puts out end up being optioned. Millar’s first issues always bring in a good amount of people, but adding the movie option to the mix may bring the numbers up higher.

From Comicbook.com earlier last month:

Former WB exec Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 production company will take Huck to the big screen. The movie will then probably be put up with Sony Pictures, who co-funds Studio 8. Millar first teased a possible Huck movie back in July, alongside the announcement of the comic, which doesn’t launch until November 18, 2015.

The character and story of Huck is what Millar has described to ComicBook.com as “the ultimate feel-good comic.” With the ever-darkening of both comic books and the films inspired by or adapting them, it should be a considerable shift in the market.

Tracking Board also reports that Nemesis, Millar’s take on a villainous form of Batman, has been picked up by Warner Bros after initially being at Fox. A Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel is also underway once again bringing Matthew Vaughan and Millar together.

  1. The story plot sounds alright. Not something that I would read. I guess I will leave it to you Anthony to let us know if it’s any good lol.

    1. I am trying to stay off the Mark Millar stuff but it is hard. While I do like his writing he does things that bother me like the lateness of books and overpriced last issue. Mark Millar why can’t I quit you?

  2. What ever happened to his Nemesis book becoming a movie? That still happening or just another option that may or may not happen? I haven’t heard anything in a while.

    1. Well, never mind… I read the header, made my comment then read the article…. Why do I do everything backwards? Nice that WB is taking it over from Fox, but it would still be nice if it was actually made into something. Interesting premise.

  3. Of course it’s been optioned.. now he can focus on the next book to get optioned and to never finish this one. And around goes the merry go round with this guy..

    1. Exactly. But I don’t buy into his hype. His comics have a 50/50 shot at an ACTUAL movie being made, no matter what development deal has been made.

      1. I don’t buy his books anymore. The force is strong with this one! 😉

And his books have less than 50/50 chance of becoming a movie.. out of all his books (I’m not going to count Marvel or other big publishers since he only wrote the stories and does not own), he’s had Wanted, Kick Ass (two films but we’ll count as one because I heard the 2nd one was horrible) and Kingsman (Secret Service).
