Steve Rogers Returns As Captain America

This spring, Marvel’s Steve Rogers takes back the iconic moniker that gave him notoriety and returns to the mantel of Captain America with CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS from writer Nick Spencer and artist Jesus Saiz.
First revealed on ABC’s “Captain America: 75 Heroic Years,” Steve Rogers will once again don the red, white, and blue and continue the adventures of Marvel’s Sentinel of Liberty in this all-new series, with an all-new mission statement while proudly carrying an all-new shield. And today, Marvel is pleased to present your first peek inside the bold new series that will take Captain America in a whole new direction!

“It’s an exciting time to be writing Captain America, for sure– this year is the character’s 75th Anniversary, not to mention the upcoming release of Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. And with CIVIL WAR II approaching in the Marvel Universe, it felt like the perfect time to restore Steve Rogers to his former self,” says series writer Nick Spencer.

Recently drained of the Super Soldier Serum that gave him his strength, speed and endurance, Steve Rogers was no longer fit to wield the shield and he passed the title of Captain America to his closest ally, Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon. So what happens to Sam Wilson now that Steve has returned? Enemies of freedom beware – there are now two Captain Americas protecting the people!

“CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS and CAPTAIN AMERICA: SAM WILSON will act as great counter-points to one another,” continues Spencer. “If you’re digging the topical, ripped-from-the-headlines approach we’re taking in Sam’s book, we’ve got plenty more of that to come. And if you’re up for a more timeless take, with Captain America facing off against Hydra and his classic rogues gallery, Steve’s book will be just the thing for you.”

The All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe is in turmoil. The threat of impeding Hydra forces grows by the day worming their way into Marvel’s Super Hero community. Anyone can be a threat, and no one is to be trusted. But what is Hydra’s ultimate goal? There is only one man who can challenge the threat of Hydra – Captain America himself – Steve Rogers!

Will his first day back on the job be his last? Find out when CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS #1 arrives in comic shops and digital devices this spring!

  1. I was about to say.. what about Sam Wilson.. they just introduced a All New All Exciting All Fresh All Brand New All Mighty Falcon.. 😉

      1. Yeah.. that’s what I was trying to point out.. until I read the whole thing.. I’m like.. umm.. we just started a new volume with Sam Wilson.. that introduced us a new Falcon.. please don’t tell me Sam will become Falcon again and the new Falcon goes off to flip burgers or something.. 😉

  2. I guess Marvel wasn’t doing well with Sam Wilson as Cap. I am liking the art and the new suit. The shield is cool but since I didn’t grew up reading the orginally Cap stuff, it’s an eeh to me.. So any ideas on how Marvel is going to give him his youth back since last series I read he was an old man.

    1. The last volume right before they rebooted it again.. I think it got up to issue #5 or so.. was going great I thought. I’m not too big on the current volume myself either.. it’s almost more political crap than go kick bad guy butt crap.. I like the kick bad guys butts stories more than political crap when it comes to super heroes.

  3. Of course there has to be 2 Captain America’s just look at other Marvel franchises….2 currently Spider-man’s, 2 Hulk’s, 2 Wolverine’s (one old man Logan and the other X-23 replacing the original guy). This is just silly to me and watering down authentic characters. What makes them unique anymore?

    1. Lol. Nothing. That is the point. People got sick of the all new and completely different Marvel characters so they stopped doing away with them and now they are doing the new character alongside the old one.

  4. I’m waiting for them to start the next reboot as… “The All Original ” and get back to the basics on reading super heroes kicking butt.
I still read Marvel but I’ve limited myself this round.. But I must admit, I’m actually enjoying the new Wolverine.. kind of nice that it’s not Logan for a change.. I got all Wolverined out long ago but X-23 has been refreshing change.
Dr. Strange is awesome as well. I’m looking forward to Black Panther and Moon Knight.. need more Moon Knight..

    1. I would go back to marvel if three things happened. 1. Go back to the characters that people love. 2. Introduce new and exciting characters instead of replacing current ones. They have introduced some exciting new ones but have primarily replaced all the classic characters with new ones. Cap, Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, etc. 3. Stop using crappy paper and cover stock. The books get trashed easily.

      1. I don’t think it’s cheap paper but definitely thinner paper, probably to cut overall costs. That’s why mine get bagged and boarded after I get my digital code so the physical copies stay minty fresh.

      2. And yeah, the recycling of characters is getting old…. it’s not even new people taking over the hero slot but people already in the Marvel universe…… I know they’re trying to diverse but damn, just come up with new characters.

        1. I liked Miles Morales. The story made sense they stuck to their guns and he has become an important character in the Marvel Universe. Not every character needs to be reset like Ultimate Spiderman was.

          1. Oh I agree. He was part of another Universe though and he was never “Peter Parker” replacement per se.

      3. It’s gotten slightly better than it was 2 years ago. Back in 2014, the ink was literally coming off of the covers like Chalk. If you held onto a book to read it, especially with a black cover (those back covers with Captain America Harley Davidson Ads were horrible!), there would be white fingerprints of Ink Removed.

      1. I will be checking out Moon Knight, you can’t go wrong with Jeff Lemire writing it. I know I pre-ordered Blade months ago.

      2. I previously pre-ordered Blade through DCBS, but it was cancelled to be re-solicited at a later date. I soon saw an article saying the book was being pushed back 2 months. But it’s already been 2 months. Not sure what the hold-up is. It definitely looked interesting, and the initial promo art was very stylish.

  5. I checked with Marvel…. I’m #27,864 to be the next, NEXT Captain America. So, maybe this time next year. I get to choose my own costume, so I am thinking Christmas Snoopy from Knott’s Berry Farm
