I have been a big fan of Lootcrate for a while. Like marriage, it has been for better or for worse. But this pay month there was a weird item in the box that was actually kind of cool. An Infinity Guantlet Oven Mitt was in the most recent box. Sure, you can cook with it, however my kids have been using it to play as Thanos and defeat their other toys. That was the proper usage it turns out, as the Infinity Guantlet Oven Mitt has been recalled sue to concerns that people have been getting burned using the thin mitt for cooking.
The following email was sent out by Lootcrate:
Dear Looters,
Loot Crate has recently been made aware of isolated incidents with the Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt (pictured above) from our May 2016 Power Box that we purchased for inclusion. Some Looters have complained that their oven mitt failed to resist oven temperature items during normal use.
Based on these reports, we believe it’s possible some of the oven mitts sent in your Loot Crates will not withstand the high temperatures stated in the Loot Crate magazine and may pose a safety hazard, including a risk of burns. Please IMMEDIATELY STOP USING THIS PRODUCT AND CAREFULLY SECURE IT FROM USE BY OTHERS.
Loot Crate will take appropriate steps to secure the Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitts that were distributed on an urgent basis. Please store this product in a safe place until we can develop the appropriate return or disposal protocol.
Our sincere apologies for this inconvenience. Loot Crate stands behind the quality of the products we offer and will ensure that our Looters receive a replacement product of equal or greater value, or a sufficient refund.
We will be in touch soon with further instructions regarding the disposal or return of the Infinity Gauntlet Oven Mitt.
In the meantime, please contact Customer Support at https://help.lootcrate.com/hc/en-us/requests/new with any questions or concerns.
We Love You,
Team Loot Crate
In typical fashion, the prices of the once valueless Infinity Guantlet Oven Mitthas shot up to as high as $32. If you have one you can hold it and hope Lootcrate will replace it with another (probably valueless) item, or maybe credit towards another box, or you could do what a lot of people are doing and sell them on eBay. If you do though, perhaps a warning that the mitt should not be used for cooking or reshaping reality as the wearer could get burned.
See, you give me an oven mitt as cool as that and I’d want to use it as an actual oven mitt myself. This is Lootcrate’s wrong, they should ship those who send them in with oven mitts that can handle the heat I say..
My oldest is running around saying he is Thanos. My youngest is just calling himself glove guy.
Why am I not surprised. Not so powerful glove after all. Ha!
Technically your violating EBays policies and breaking the law knowingly selling a item that has been recalled due to safety and could be held liable for any damages created by the item, might not be worth the $15-$30 in your pocket. Just list it with your baby crib that snaps baby necks and no one will notice.
Personally I would burn myself using the oven mitt and join the pending lawsuit coming loot crates way, probably worth more then selling it on eBay.
Lol great idea.
I wonder who’s bright idea it was to ship oven mitts that cause burns. Wouldn’t want to be that guy right now. I watched the loot crate Unboxing and the oven mitt was the only thing I wanted, and it would’ve been to cook with. ?
Even the unfathomable powers of the Infinity Gauntlet would be unable to help me learn how to cook, it seems. I’m doomed to be a terrible chef.
