Also did you hear McFarlane is doing his first Marvel work since leaving Spider-Man in the early 90’s to start image. Move over Dell Otto, It will be the 1:1000 Venom incentive variant get your check books handy.

      1. It’s actually a re-colored version of the first appearance of Venom from ASM #299. While the illustration of Venom itself isn’t too bad (considering it’s what, almost 30 years old? and very early McFarlane artwork), it’s that lazy background that makes this cover offensive to the eyes.

  2. I love a good post-apocalyptic book, so when I see a new series come out, I pray it’s fresh and new and not a bunch of recycled ideas that have been overused. Surprisingly there have been two recent books that have blown me away. The first is Animosity. We all know about this book now, so I won’t go into it. The other sat at the bottom of my read pile for a while and I kick myself for letting this happen. That book is Eclipse by Image Comics. The sun had hit the Earth with a major solar flare that has changed the sun. People live their lives at night but are forced to live underground at night. If you are caught out in the sun, you will melt and burn. This book is a sleeper and a must read! It has sold out and gone to second print yet no one is talking about it. I’ve grabbed a few copies and have one on its way to CGC.

    1. I really should proofread before hitting post. I meant to say people live underground during the day. Anyways, if you have read it, please comment. If you haven’t read it, please do!

    2. I really should proofread before hitting post. I meant to say people live underground during the day.

  3. Hillbilly #3 will be by far and away the big book of the week.
I’m bullish on that book long term.

  4. Well, my eBay minifigs are starting to trickle in. That’s fun.
This week I will be getting:
    Action comics
    Back to the future
    Batman beyond
    Blue beetle
    Deadpool
    Deadpool annual
    Detective comics
    Hal jordan
    Image+
    Outcast
    Spiderman/deadpool
    Star wars
    Teen titans
    Flash
    Hellblazer

      1. I got a suicide squad set based on the movie, a cw reverse flash, a thor, a wolverine and cable. Still looking for a midnighter

        1. Cool I still have to remember to. Ring my ghost busters in to my office. I am looking for scooby Doo ones and have picked up a legion of storm troopers.

  5. The 1:1000 McFarlane Variant image is 28 years old. Marvel owns the artwork and just recolored it, so it’s not new art. Todd said he’d rather do a new cover when asked about it.

  6. The Tick has been scheduled as an upcoming series on Amazon’s streaming service.Jackie Earle Haley as the Terror could create demand for the Tick volume 1 #12.There were 3 sets of numbered variants to #12 as well as the standard cover. Each set was limited to 1000.I have not been able to find one of the limited covers in the wild.I think those numbered variants are spec worthy.Issue #2 is my favorite story of the original 12 issue volume 1.I’ve read the story several times and I always laugh and smile at the awesome superman parody.

    1. Night watch rumored to be part of Sonys spider verse, wether that means Spider-Man homecoming or future venom movie. Supposedly Sony employees stocking up on this book.

      1. Yeah he certainly did look a bit like Spawn, but I could see a costume re-design “if” they ever brought him to the big screen. Regardless, for a couple of bucks its a very small investment… Also, isn’t Web of Spiderman #97 his first appearance?

      2. different sources on the web have different issues listed as Nightwatch’s first appearance. Wikipedia lists it as Web of Spiderman #99 but others including Mycomicshop are listing his first appearance in the description of Web of Spiderman #97

  7. I am still into rebirth:
Flash 7 – never read flash before, really liking this run
Wonder woman 7 – I only get the variants, they have all been beautiful and so is this one
    Suicide Squad 3
Action comics 964 – i like Dan Jurgens writing Superman again
    Frostbite 1

    1. I’m jumping off of all of the rebrith titles except for Batman. I dropped Deathstroke last week and I’m going to drop Wonder Woman this week. It got me reading a few superhero books which is something I wasn’t doing before.

      1. I dropped several others, but these ones seem to be holding my attention so I will stick around for awhile

  8. This was a nice surprise today, picking up my Francavilla X-O Manowar #50 Variant.. the micro print inside was an original artwork..

      1. I knew it was but I know nothing more about it.. like ratio or chances of landing one, all the artists, etc. Maybe I should try searching their site with more info about it. But nonetheless, very cool. I love X-O so it’s a keeper for me. I also have found none listed on Ebay yet.

      2. And the sketch I got is way cooler than the ones that sold.. one was by Sina Grace.. kind of meh.. like he didn’t put much effort into it.

  9. Deathstroke #3 I canceled it but I’ll end up with this issue since It was a pre-order
Eden’s Fall #2- I’m not sure how I feel about this spin off but it’s in my pull (first issue was good)
Frostbite #1 Joshua Williamson? I’ll give it a try
Postal #15 Still loving this series.
    Saga #38
    Sombra #3
    Three Stooges
Wonder Woman #7 I’ve said it a few times but I really hate the alternating week. I’m going to cancel the series this week.
Plus my trusty copy of Previews which somehow always ends up costing me way too much money.

  10. Can’t get to my LCS til Saturday but that’s OK as they have a Prog 2000 of 2000AD mega-signing! Mike/Mick McMahon no less, first published artist for Judge Dredd in Prog 2, will be in at Scorch Comics, Eastbourne. Plus loads others. My inner 8 year old is going nuts!
Not sure how easy it is to get hold of in the USA, but after all these years it’s still worth reading and this is a landmark issue in anyone’s book.

  11. Well, I’ve dropped almost all my marvel titles so I thought I’d be saving some money but noooo…
    Here goes:
    Sombra 3
    Batman beyond rebirth 1
    Detective comics 941
    The Flash 7
    Teen Titans rebirth 1
Deadly class 22 (cant wait to read this)
    Lake of fire 2
    Outcast 21
    Snotgirl 3
    Surgeon X 1
    Wayward 16
    Star wars 23
    Frostbite 1
    Hellblazer 2
Kim & Kim 3 (black mask series coming out every month?? weird)
Generation zero 2 (LOVED the 1st one, 1st app of these guys is Bloodshot 9 if this takes off it could be worth picking up, I did)
    Evil Heroes 2
    Spiderman Deadpool 9
Hillbilly 3 (x2) if you want one they’re both up for sale on ebay :p

      1. Just link it brennan, paste the direct URL in your comment. No brackets, code or html tags, just the link. Make sure it’s direct link to the image though, no redirect or rewrite URL’s to the image.

  12. Saw the Squirrel Girl cosplay variant in only one shop today. They had it up for $60… yeesh
    Deadly Class #22
    Descender #15
    Flash #7
    Frostbite #1
Hillbilly #3 – lucky to grab one
    Lake of Fire #2
    Saga #38 – tried n’ true
    Spider-Man Deadpool #9
    Star Wars #23
    Teen Titans #1
Wonder Woman #7 – for the badass Frison cover alone
X-Files Origins #2 – for the wife still crushin’ on Duchoveny

    1. Yeah, the one shop that had the Squirrel Girl variant had theirs for $40.. no way, not for a 1:15 variant. I don’t like shops that jack up their prices to the secondary market prices on release day.. do your normal ratio price, if no one buys initial day, then jack it up after customers got their chance.

      1. True that. I can understand the desire to make more money, but such an obvious cash grab based on ebay prices is not a great way to win the hearts of repeat customers. On the flip side there were plenty of Ultimates Galactus cosplay variants still on the shelf at cover price… wonder why…

  17. Man ape confirmed for Black Panther movie get on those Avengers #62 NOW!!! if you haven’t already this was written up awhile back in a weekend specs.

  18. I picked up the DC Rebirth titles, plus a few Marvel titles (Cap Steve Rogers, Kingpin, Extraordinary Xmen, SpiderGwen & Ultimates), but said NO to the overpriced Annuals. Got several Spidey Deadpool # 9’s including the reg. cover, the Story Thus Far cover and the classic incentive variant. Was fortunate to snag a copy of the Squirrel Girl cosplay variant for cover price. I actually dropped that title a few issues ago but couldn’t resist the cosplay variant. Paid slightly more than cover for the Star Wars 1 in 25 variant and the Totally Awesome Hulk Jimenez Black Panther variant. Also grabbed a set of covers (A, B & C) for Seven to Eternity which I hesitated on last week. Picked up Frostbite, Surgeon X, Saga, Hillbilly, Generation Zero (cover D), and Evil Heroes (cover D). Still thinking about getting a copy of Josie & the Pussycats # 1…but probably not a title I would continue buying. Don’t recall seeing any Sentient #1’s at my LCS but curious to check it out.
