Cover Art Appreciation: Batman #14

Good cover art will sell a book. That is the main draw of variants. DC has been putting out some regular covers that top what others are doing with ratio variants. Batman #14 by Stephanie Hans is one that will be a fan favorite in the future. Check it out below:
Batman #14 features a great pairing of Batman and Catwoman against a red background.

Back in Gotham City, Batman and Catwoman confront their past and make a decision about their future that may change their city forever.

Hans has done work for Marvel (Angela, Defenders), DC (Deadman Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love), Boom (Power Rangers Pink), and more.

Thanks to Kevin at www.frankiescomics.com for pointing this one out.

  1. I saw this in the November Previews book and was instantly in love! I may even buy 2 so I can frame one. This is definitely one to collect even if not interested in the story arc!

  2. I don’t care for this. Catwoman looks like she’s 10 years old and it’s too minimalist for me. Space is not well enough utilized in my opinion. But if ya’ll like it, buy away. haha

    1. Yeah, I was surprised to see this article. When I saw the cover, I could barely tell it was Catwoman. I like Stephanie Hans’ work on other covers, but not this one. And I do agree in general that a lot of the Regular Covers from DC have been superior to the Variant Covers. The only standouts for me are Bermejo’s Suicide Squad covers, Sienkiewicz’ Harley Quinn covers, & Shane Davis’ Deathstroke covers. The rest are usually a quick & easy decision for me to buy the Regular cover instead of the Variant. And a few issues of Detective I’ve bought both covers.
