Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 11/16/16

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 11/16/16:
Its going to be a good week of comics. Lots of cool new releases. Too many returning favorites to list them all. But here are the picks.
Returning Favorites
Reborn #2 – Oh boy this is going to be good. First issue was mind blowing (take that Polo, good Millar that you had to buy!). Pulled the Kaare Andrews cover for myself.
Black Hammer #5 – Loving this Jeff Lemire series. Reads like a modern take on the fun silver age DC books.
Briggs Land #4 – This family crime drama (coming to TV) has been a fantastic read and leaves you wanting more with each issue.
Die Kitty Die #2 – Loved the homage to Harvey comics as well as the twisted take on Casper the Friendly Ghost. Just an over all good read.

Small Press Gems
Vampire Hunter D #1 – Huge following for the Anime/Manga character. There are some great covers coming out for it. Huge fan base + small press = potential success.  If the blows up the NYCC Preview will be worth the pick up.
Yakuza Demon Killers #1 – Had a chance to preview the issue early on and was very impressed.

Pick of the Week
Harbinger Renegade #1 – Not often a Valiant book hits the list. the spec potential on this one is high. Sold out at many online retailers in advance is a good sign. Sold out at Diamond is a good clue too. Already going back for a 2nd print. Again, if this gets big, look for the Diamond Retailers Preview which sells for $10-15.

That is it for us this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

  1. Has anyone else noticed Reborn #2 Capullo’s B cover is scarce online? Midtown was sold out last I checked and mycomicshop didn’t have em up either. Tfaw didn’t even seem to have it, and Dreamland said they were sold out. Could change tomorrow but that was one of the more interesting covers.

  2. I forgot Vampire Hunter Douglas was coming out tomorrow, already pre-ordered it may pick up one more copy if I see it.

    1. Dollface. It is going to be a little racy but have a feeling the book will be hot. Everything else I am Meh on except the Lying Cat statue.

      1. Noted and thanks! There are a number of things I am interested in for myself but didn’t know what you felt would be hot. The LP record is kind of cool too, and that statue is neat, but a $100 it is way too rich for my blood.

      2. Do you think the statue will be an item that will flip well? I could see it being hot or ending-up as a paperweight for the folk who buy it and find no interested buyers. I just know absolutely nothing about the market for collectible statutes.
