Hey gang, another Wednesday is upon us. Coming off the heels of an American holiday, and like all crappy bosses, Anthony has me picking comics instead of watching fireworks. That is ok because I am getting ready for another American tradition, the road trip. The family and I are setting out in a couple weeks for a good old fashioned National Lampoon style jaunt. Oh, right, it is Tuesday/Wednesday, depending on when you are reading this, and you want the good stuff. Never fear, your old pal Poyo has some picks for you. Like them, hate them, let me know in the comments.
DC/Vertigo Pick
Batman #26 B Joshua Middleton Variant (DC) – I haven’t seen Poison Ivy look this good in many years, not since Uma Therman peeled off the monkey costume in Batman and Robin during that charity auction scene. Sure, the rest of the scene was cheesy, Batman credit card for example, but Uma was Poison Ivy. Where were we, ah yes, Batman #26 starts a new story arch and this cover already has some buzz.
Marvel Pick
The One Everyone Will Be Getting
Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again #1 (Marvel) – Well, Cullen Bunn is back at the reigns of the Merc with a Mouth. Cullen is a great writer and handles the choirs nicely. This could go either way, so many people grab it that it doesn’t heat up, or even with everyone grabbing it, it still heats up. Its a coin flip but will be a fun read with Deadpool on a murderous rampage.
Small Publisher Pick
Scared Creatures #1 (Image) – There is a lot of buzz behind this one and the early buzz around the CHU camp is it is a great read. I got a preview of this one as well and it is worth the buzz. You can’t go too wrong with a new #1 issue from Image. Expect Anthony to have a sold out post on Thursday or Friday about it. Oh, and don’t forget The Walking Dead #169, always a good $2.99 gamble. Will be able to sell it for at least $5 in a couple of months.
Indie Pick
This one kind of grinds my gears, but I am going with Babyteeth #2 (Aftershock). The first issue was so well written, I love Donny Cates stuff, but everyone was on it and the flood of store variants sank the regular cover, trust me, I bought a bunch too. But, the second issue is so god I cannot wait to read the third. Did you know we get previews early some times? One of the few perks of the job. Hopefully, spec guys will not be all over Unholy Grail #1 (Aftershock) and this one pops up in price for a quick flip.
That is it. Let me know if you agree, disagree, want to see more Gwenpool on the list, or whatever here and in the Wednesday Open Forum.

Just posting for more Gwenpool.
Yay, more Gwenpool…..
I actually missed out on Babyteeth. Should give it a try.
It is good.
Yeah, don’t buy for spec, buy for story. You might even be better off buying the TPB when it comes out.
