Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 7/5/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for 7/5/17:
This is a tough week because of the Tuesday Holiday. Not sure shops will get books today, or early tomorrow so some shops might not have their new books out first thing tomorrow. But here is what we are feeling for the day after Independence Day. It is a huge week.
Returning Favorites
Predator Hunters #3 – I have been loving this book so far. It is a group of people who have survived Predator attacks and are going to hunt a Predator. Lots of awesome back story and build up so far.
Beauty #16 – This book has stayed on the list because of great story, art, and a weird concept, an STD that causes people to become their ideal selves, but die a year later. Has that “in a world that fears and hates them” feel.
Seven to Eternity #7 – This book just gets better and better. Rick Remender brings his A game.
Motor Girl #7 – The story keeps unfolding and is getting deeper and deeper. Started out cartoony and has gotten really amazing.
Babyteeth #2– Sure you picked up #1 for the spec potential, but the second issue is good. Really good.
The One For the Fourth Of July
Superman #26 B cover – Nothing says America like Superman Holding an Eagle in front of an American Flag. An iconic cover.
One For the Art
Batman #26 Joshua Middleton Cover – This sultry Poison Ivy cover has buzz. Worth the pick up and DC B covers have been doing well.
The One with the Walking and the Dead
Walking Dead #169 – Story keeps rolling on and I have a feeling something big could happen this issue, or soon. I feel a change coming on.
The One Everyone Will Be Getting
Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again #1 – Cullen Bunn doing Deadpool. He does a great job writing these mini series and the last one went Supernova.
The Cheap One
True Believers: Amazing Fantasy #15 – Remember hearing about the guy who picked up the first appearance of Spider-Man for $1, yeah because it hasn’t happened in the past 40 years. Any way, here is your chance. Also, it is sold out at many places online.
Small Press Gems
Diablo House #1 – I love horror anthology books and IDW is doing a classic Ghost Host book featuring a California haunted mansion and hosted by a surfer.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Unholy Grail #1 – Aftershock has done some great books, this look at King Arther is a heck of a read.
Zombie Tramp Origins #1 – Reprinting the original, very hard to find, and very expensive first self-published mini series, this one could have legs. I am shooting for the replica cover.
Pick of the Week
Scared Creatures #1 – Image’s new series that focuses on mystical creatures, a conspiracy, and is oversized for $4.99. Worth the read, trust me, its good.
That’s it for this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.
