Marvel Liked Cover for Darth Maul #3 So Much They Reuse it for Issue 5

I am sure someone in Marvel’s editorial pool will need tk answer for this, but Marvel reused the same David Lopez variant for today’s released Darth Maul #5 as they did on Issue #3. Check it out below:
Darth Maul #3 David Lopez Variant and Darth Maul #5 David Lopez Variant are both up on eBay for under $10 for a 1:25 variant, and that is not half bad.
From Mycomicshops listing:

PLEASE NOTE: This is actually #5 and IS NOT a misprint of #3. Limited 1 for 25 Retailer Incentive Variant Cover. Written by Cullen Bunn. Art by Luke Ross. Cover by David Lopez. Darth Maul has kidnapped Jedi Padawan Eldra Katiss… …and he’s out for blood. But she’s not going down without a fight. Duel! Rated T Cover price $3.99.

  1. Goofy and Dumbo must have strayed over from the ‘Wonderful World Of’ to lend a hand !!!!

  2. Goes to show how much Marvel cares. They don’t care, they just slap some new (in this case, old) art on it, call it a variant, then put it at a stupid ratio on it. VHS-Ching cha-Ching, eh, Marvel. SMH

    1. That’s why my favorite listings in Marvel Previews are the flubs where they actually print the solicitation as “From cult-favorite writer TBD, and super-hot artist TBD”! A few years ago that used to happen to multiple books on multiple occasions, especially when a book is near cancellation…
