Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 9/27/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 9/27/17:
Returning Favorites
Black Magick #8 – I do love this book, and having been optioned, early issues could be worth the grab.
Redneck #6 – Donny Cates book keeps trucking along, and is fantastic.
Saga #47 – Always on the list, always worth the grab.
Southern Bastards #18 – I cannot get enough of Jason Aaron’s writing.
The All Ages One
Ducktales #1 – I cannot pass up putting this one the list. Fans of the old show, and the new one, and Disney fans will collide to get this. Just don’t mention it to classic Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck artist Don Rosa.
The One for the Cover
Thor #23 Hela Venomized Cover – Man this is a beautiful cover. Crain captures the wickedness in this one. Hela is also going to be in the Thor movie.
Small Press Gem
Graveland #1 – I love books about the supernatural. This one has the San Andreas fault opening up and is about the fight between humans (superhumans at that) and the giants that came out of the fault.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Malefic #1 – I have mentioned how much I like Dan Schaffer’s work numerous times. This one may not go anywhere, but the art and story will be worth the pick up. Sold out on several online sites.
The Other Big One
Marvel Legacy #1 – I hate to put this one on the list. It has multiple variants, including this hugely priced black and white cover, and will have a huge print run, but it features the return of, well I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t already seen the news, and hints at the return of someone else…. Wait for the spoilers on that one.
The Pick of the Week
Spider-Gwen #24– We got the spoilers out there. It is gonna be a big one. Sold out at Diamond. Already selling for $12 and up on eBay. Don’t want to give it away so check out the spoilers if you haven’t seen it.

    1. I haven’t seen it, but hearing that Magica DeSpell won’t appear this season, I am far less interested in the reboot. She was the best thing about DuckTales, IMO.
