Mel V.’s Variant Picks for February 13, 2019

What Up CHU? Mel V. back in the building with another round of Variants of the Week for 2/13/2019. Let’s See, Let’s See… pretty decent week should be a be a gem or two in here somewhere.

Avengers No Road Home #1 Cover F Incentive Adam Hughes Variant Cover – Hughes back to greatness with this Scarlet Witch offering. Not mad at it. I don’t think I will wake up at the crack of dawn for it but if I happen to see on later in the day I may scoop

Batman Who Laughs #3 Cover B Variant Riccardo Federici Cover – Great damn cover. Federici has been on fire lately. This is definitely an Iconic Batman Who Laughs rendition

Captain Marvel Vol 9 #2 Cover B Variant Movie Cover – Movie covers tend to do well in the aftermarket if the movie is good. I hope the movie is good. To be honest I’m not too optimistic about it, but we shall see

Dead Man Logan #4 Cover B Incentive Gerardo Zaffino Variant Cover – Riding high off that Immortal Hulk. Love this Zaffino variant already trending upward Could it be a $100 dollar book by the weekend?

Marvel Tales Black Widow #1 Cover B Incentive Jen Bartel Virgin Cover – Bartel is also an artist on fire, the Venom variant from a couple weeks back is still doing good dollars. I expect this one to do great as well

Savage Sword Of Conan #1 Cover E Incentive Rahzzah Color Variant Cover – my man Rahzzah back with another gem. There are not many good looking Conan covers by today’s artists. Rahzzah breaks that theory with this gem

Supergirl Vol 7 #27 Cover B Variant Emanuela Lupacchino Cover – I like this cover a lot for some reason. It might not stand out like others. But I dig it

Wonder Twins #1 Cover B Variant Dustin Nguyen Cover – Maybe I’m the oddball.. but I loved Wonder twins when I was a kid. I’m excited for this series and I hope it does well. I also like Nguyen style on this cover. Heres to hoping for a good series, as this is one I will be pickling up for the read and not just the lovely cover

  1. I have to say that the Marvel tales Black Widow 1:50 Bartel is an absolute ghost, only one sale on ebay and only three to my knowledge were ever listed, one seller had two but ended the listing no sure why though. The one listing sold for a little over $80 US, congrats to the buyer I suspect that this is really rare book—how many stores do you know that ordered 50 copies of this title to qualify for the incentive? I know of none personally and have only seen the two listings. I would not be surprised if there is less than 100 of these floating around. I am curious to see where this book goes from here and how many will make it to secondary markets in the coming weeks.

    1. Thanks for the recon/intel. I agree. Cannot see many stores ordering 50 copies of a book to qualify for the virgin cover of the regular.
