Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 3/27/19

Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 3/27/19:

Great week for comics, smaller spec week for me. Here is what I am checking out this week.

Killer B’s
Batgirl #33 Yasmine Putri Variant – Putri lends her talents well to this cover.

Batman Beyond #30 Ben Oliver Cover – Ben Oliver has been pumping out great work. Will we see this on the cover of a Mattina Variant?

New #1’s
Bad Luck Chuck #1 – Interesting looking new Dark Horse series.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch #1 Adam Hughes Cover – This is one of the ones everyone will be grabbing. Still, great cover. Adam Hughes did well with this. The exclusive versions of these are insane, so grab one of the regular Hughes for the collection.

The Gotta Have It One
Incredible Hulk #181 Facsimile Edition – Yes, I know this is not the first reprint of the book, I know there will be tons of copies out there. Still, will be cool to have a copy in my hands to read as it was originally presented. Grab one or two and hold.

The One to Watch
These Savage Shores #1 Black & White Edition – This is a reprint of a book that has been pretty hot. This may be the third print of the book, and presented in Black and White

Small Press Pick of the Week
Star Bastards #1 – funny new series from Scout comics. Scout has announced a bunch of options for their books and can totally see this being made. Think Space Balls.

Pick of the Week
Neon Future #1 – This one has that odd crossover potential. Music fans and comic fans could chase it. Small press and could be hard to find.

That is it for this week. No New Comic Spec Review this week due to a ton of stuff that took up the weekend. See you next week!

  1. Regarding Hulk 181,

So you got the True Believers reprint, the Marvel Milestone edition, the Hasbro Greatest Battles action figure reprint, and the “Hulk and Wolverine” one shot which also includes 180 story. Only the Hasbro toy reprint has the original cover, all the others modify it or add a border, or are completely different.

So IMO, this is the reprint to own long term. Maybe the Hasbro one too, if you can find it in NM+ or better shape.

If I see his facsimile in 9.8 shape I’m grabbing multiples for the long term hold as 181 continues to climb out of reach.
