A Look Ahead to June Medium and Large Publisher Comic Books

We are aways trying to look ahead at new solicitations for comics to see what is going to be hot. Here are some highlights from April’s Previews Catalog.

Silver Surfer Black #1Marvel Comics – June 12, 2019

Spinning out of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1, almost the entire galaxy’s defenders have been blown through a black hole, including the Silver Surfer! But the story doesn’t end there… In order to fight back the oblivion, Surfer will have to fight to save his own soul and not lose himself to the void. Follow the Sentinel of the Spaceways on a journey that will change him forever! From superstars Donny Cates and Tradd Moore.

Spec is running pretty high that this could be the Fallen One from Thanos.

 Thumbs #1Image Comics – June 05, 2019
Imagine someone like, say, Mark Zuckerberg created his own army of tech-obsessed teens and directed them to take on the government. What would the fallout be? Charley “Thumbs” Fellows is a member of just such an army. Poor and raised by the influential MOM app, he finds himself in the center of a war. The Social Network meets Blade Runner in this big event book from the team that brought you the hit series THE FEW!

The Ride Burning Desires #1 – Image Comics – June 12, 2019
THE RIDE celebrates its 15th anniversary with a five-part story from the award-winning team of PLASTIC, plus a special backup feature from ADAM HUGHES! After serving a hard 15 years in prison on a murder plea, former Atlanta P.D. detective Samantha Vega now makes her living as a bouncer at an exotic dance club. But life on the outside isn’t easy, especially when enemies have scores to settle…

Awesome Adam Huges story and he also does a back up story in the book.

Usagi Yojimbo #1 – Dark Horse -June 19, 2019
Stan Sakai is back bringing his animated samurai bunny to the comic shops.

I am a big fan of Stan Sakai and that he is bringing back his favorite character.

Red Sonja Birth of the She Devil Boom Studios – June 12, 2019

Not much to say, Lucio Parillo provided the cover art. There is even a 1:50 ration out there.

DC Comics Event Leviathan – DC Comics – June 12, 2019
DC comics next big event. Check out the kiler B cover by Kenneth Rocafort.

  1. Thought about grabbing the unknown comic books virgin shop variant of the 4th print to Thanos 15, but passed. Because when do shop variants of first appearances really take off?

$20 Last Wednesday… now goes for $45 on eBay. Doh!

  2. Lot of FOMO on that though also some scarcity driving the price. Little bit of uncertainty with which book is the one the masses will pick (16 is first full, 17 is first cover but 3rd app) and15 4th has a head start on all.

  3. Savage Venom Standard Cover (Venom #13) is back in stock at Diamond now. The question now is for how long?

  4. Any indications as to whether Superman Year One (DC Black Label) will be worth the cover price? Unless the story is killer – which could be likely if DC can stave off neutering their ‘Mature Audience’ books…

    1. Batman Damned they took the Harley Quinn nudity out of #2 and delayed it. #3 has been delayed again. So the Black Label out the gate is a roll of the dice what you get and when/if you’re going to get it. It’s switching to Prestige binding so now reading it is going to make noticeable damage to the book. The description itself sounds like a Smallville focused story. Sounds like a buy it to read it story planning on it not maintaining a high grade afterwards. At least this time we shouldn’t have to worry about Superboy getting naked and causing a fuss and Lois already had a bath in an actual movie.

      MATURE READERS

      1. Oh wait, it’s an origin story? Booooooorrrrrrrriiiinnnggggggg… How many times do we need to reread the “real” origin story?

      1. LOL. Then maybe Batman and Superman will figure out their mom’s have the same name and touch dicks in the next DC Black Label book.

        Superwang’s already out there also.

          Trying again

          1. The message keeps cutting off the address’s front end but it’s from when he arrived in Smallville around 1978. Predates the Batwang by at least 40 years.
