    1. Why would a reveal be better than the first full spec wise?

Is there any statistics out here that support this? Only comic I can think of recently is Thanos 13 vs 15.

its not like Detective Is a low print run. In the end it’ll come down to the coolest cover…and 1001A is that cover.

      1. Probably flash 3 vs 6 for godspeed would be a good comparison. Six is the one even though he appears a lot in 3. Some are saying 1001 is another cameo, so 1003 could be considered 1st full. It will be interesting where the market goes. I bought some each just in case.

          1. That’s up to debate. Issue 1001 has several panes, dialogue, we know their alter ego name (just not their actual identity).. seems like a first full to me. The cameo appeared in 1000.

I’d consider 1001 the first full. What more do you need?

        1. 1001 should be first full. 1003 will be identity revealed. 1000 is a cameo. 1001 has dialogue. On the cover. We know their alter ego name. They’re in more than one pane in the interiors. If 1001 is not a first full, then I don’t know what is a first full. Is every issue of Batman another first full appearance? This first full vs cameo’s vs first appearance debate is just getting a wee bit out of hand if you ask me.

    1. Dr. Phosphorus is in Arkham. He plays a role in making the knights, he gives us the first name, which is fully revealed on the last page.

  1. Going to be interesting to see how TEC #1001 does as well. I know first appearance was in TEC #1000 but that print run was huge and it was a very brief cameo. Definitely will be fun to watch which one the market settles on.

  2. So Detective Comics 1000 is the 1st appearance? 10001 is the 1st cover appearance and this is important how other than establishing the other 2 comics as legitimate 1st appearances?

  3. Both 1001/1003 probably will both be duds and this conversation won’t matter.

But I’ll say it again…cover matters most.

1st appearance (full or cameo) as something (hero or alter ego)…the one with the first cover will matter most.

52 week 11 vs. week 9, for example
Teen Titans 12A vs. 12B or Dark nights Metal #2
    Avengers 684 vs 682

If I think of more I’ll post them…

To emphasize the cover even more, look at cameos whose reprints feature the character on the cover….the reprints tend to do better than the original cameo if the character is popular (e.g. Rescue armor, black surfer/fallen one, etc.)

    The best cover rules.

    1. D-Rog, I placed a good spec bet on Champions 19 & 20 2nd print connecting covers featuring Snow Guard for the reasons you mentioned. Not sorry I did either. I love the covers and the character. By the way, I’ve found it more difficult than usual to find 9.8 candidates due to color lifting (scuffs) on the dark back cover. A book isn’t worth anything till it is and then it may be too late for the easy money.

      Picked up today:
      Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man 6 X2
War of Realm, Agents of Atlas cover A and 1:25 variant
      Naomi 2nd print
      Detective 1001 2nd print
      Detective 1003
      Flash 70

      My lcs limits quantities.

  4. I agree in 1001 first full app. Multiple panels, dialogue, cover, etc. If thats not a full app idk what is. If this was hulk first app and hulk is on the cover, has multiple panels where we see him, he’s talking through out and has a fight in the book how is that not first full.
