Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to the potential. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 7/24/19
Very small spec week. However there are some big. must pick up, books this week. Here is what I have on tap.
DC TOP PICKS
Batman Curse Of The White Knight #1 – The follow up to the blockbuster Batman White Night by Sean Murphy. Hopefully there will be new twists like the Neo-Harley that heated up previously.
Detective #1008 – An awesome, Joker centric issue. Good read. Joker books are good long term holds.
MARVEL
Fearless #1 – Need to see how this plays out, but this female-centric book could be worth the grab.
Guardians Of The Galaxy #7 – Death of Rocket starts here. Also the return of a Cosmic Marvel character.
House Of X #1 – Complete reboot of the X-Men books begins. Hopeful Hickman sets the ship right.
Valkyrie Jane Foster #1 – Jane Foster is taking a bigger role in the next Thor movie. They are reporting that the current Marvel Valkyrie is looking for her queen, could Jane end up being that Valkyrie Queen at the end of the movie and take the mantle on herself?
Web Of Venom Funeral Pyre #1 – Donny Cates sprawling epic that will be Absolute Carnage has a preface here. A must pick up.
THE ONE TO WATCH
Sword Master #1 – First appearing in New Agents of Atlas #2, which was hot for a minute, not sure the hype is still there, but this is one to keep an eye on even if you do not pick it up on Wednesday.
READER OF THE WEEK
At The End Of Your Tether #2 A Ribbon Of Road – first issue was cool and laid the mystery out well. Was a really good read. Cannot wait for this one.
REPRINT OF THE WEEK
X-Men #137 Facsimile Edition – Are you guys loving the facsimile editions as much as I am? Classic comics completely reprinted in their original format, but a bigger cover price.
INDIE PICK OF THE WEEK
Star Pig #1 – If IDW can get past their printer issues, this could be a good book and while it is different, could follow in the footsteps of Canto in heat factor.
PICK OF THE WEEK
Batgirl #37 – A new version of an old character shows up in this issue. Could catch traction, new characters have been doing so lately.
Here is this week’s New Comic Spec Review Video if you haven’t watched it yet. Yes, I am doing the videos again.
The Queen is going to be Angela
that would be seriously cool
tell me about it! i can’t be the only one waiting to sell off all these spawn #9’s and age of ultron #10’s.
and if anyone comes across either of the angela variants for AoU #10, there’s a 1:50 quesada color and a 1:100 quesada sketch, i’d pick em up if reasonably priced. when/if she debuts in the MCU those will be fire.
