Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 9/18/19

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 9/18/19:

For the Cover
Supergirl #34 Derrick Chew Cover – I know these don’t do what they used to on the secondary market, but still love the covers, especially by Chew.

Red Sonja Birth Of The She-Devil #4 Lucio Parrillo Cover – Cannot pass up cover priced Parrillo. He will be at NYCC coming up and will make a great signed comic opp.

Mighty Marvel Must Have
Spider-Man #1 – wait for the spoilers, it is a cool read setting up a great world. Crazy variants on this one including the Virgin Variant. I am grabbing the FOC Chip Kid Cover.

Reprint of the Week
Daredevil #181 Facsimile Edition – Classic Frank Miller Daredevil. Not unapproachable for the Original version of this key issue.

New #1’s
Butcher Queen #1 – New Series by Don Handfield. In Black Star City, alien offworlders are being systematically attacked and removed from society by a clandestine paramilitary group called the Overseers. When fugitive cop-turned-mercenary Syd Kiowa is contacted by a victim who escaped their grip, she is thrust into a horrifying war of secrets that will determine the future of alien relations on Earth forever (check Mycomicshop before hitting eBay.) Our old friend Terry Hoknes has a Hoknes Variant for the book.

You Are Obsolete #1 – New Aftershock series. These are great readers. A disgraced journalist is called to cover a mysterious story on an isolated European island. As she investigates, she discovers the children have taken control and are somehow killing off all adults by their 40th birthdays. Now, she must discover the truth behind the killings while staying on the good side of the children’s harsh leader…or she’s next. YOU ARE OBSOLETE is an spine-tingling thriller that evokes the eerie naturalism of 1970s hor-ror films with a modern deadly digital twist. Written by Mathew Klickstein (Sony Pictures’ Against the Dark, Slimed!, Springfield Confidential, Selling Nostalgia)

Small Press Gem
Forever Maps #1 – New Scout series. In 1794, a young man named John is given a map. Curious, he follows it, and when he arrives at the end, he finds a similar map. This leads him to another, and then another, and on and on. Determined to find something, anything, else, he continues to follow these strange maps all over the country. Decades later, he learns that as long as he follows them, he doesn’t seem to get older… and it’s not until nearly a century later that he realizes when he stops, time begins to catch up with him. Torn between family and immortality, John must continually choose between living forever and having a life worth living. (check Mycomicshop before hitting eBay.)

Small Press Picks of the Week
Something Is Killing The Children #1 3rd Ptg – Hot book, still have room to make money on this one.

Once & Future #2 – A great read and a hot book.

Big Two Picks of the Week
Absolute Carnage #3 – Another great issue. Wait until you see the spoilers.

House of X #5 – this and POX have become must pick ups. The books have been popping on the secondary market. This issue gives away a lot of back story. Wait until you see the spoilers.

  1. “Supergirl #34 Derrick Chew Cover – I know these don’t do what they used to on the secondary market, but still love the covers, especially by Chew.”

It appears from other sites I’m looking at that they shipped the birdie cover this week that was originally slated for last issue and not the Hello Kitty cover two issues in a row. I ordered extra yesterday from Diamond since I like the birdie cover more. “Jesus Merino Cardstock Cover” Previews is showing Merino but still labelling it a Chew.

      1. Just found the Birdie Cover in my delivery also so it confirms what I’ve read about online and what Previewsworld is displaying.

        1. I was told to expect 48 hour shipping delay but got them after only 24 hours delayed. Your source may get them today also. It’s going to be a long night.
