Since Covrprice.com came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow, and, these results are for auction that closed last week. )
#1 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 (Marvel, 1992) Spidey 2099 is on top this week, beating its #4 spot on the list two weeks ago with a CGC 9.8 at $60. This week it sold 27 copies, had a 7-day trend of 96% and had a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.8. We’re inching closer to its highest sale of $126 for a 9.8 back in Dec. 2018 when INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE came out and he appeared in the end credits scene… which you should watch again here.
#2 SPAWN #1 (Image, 1992) We feel like we should just change our name to COVRPRICE: HOUSE OF SPAWN. This is one of the highest printed comics of all time… yet it just sells…and sells… and sells. We remember when this was a $20 wall book a few months after it was released in 1992. 28 years later… it still sells for $20. This week, it sold 25 copies, had a 7-day trend of 105% and had a high sale of $125 for a CGC 9.8.
#3 WOLVERINE #1 (Marvel, 1988) There WILL be a day when Wolverine hits the MCU. Smart collectors are picking up these early key Wolvie books. These are just a tad more affordable then Hulk 181. This sold 20 copies, had a 7-day trend of 182% and had a high sale of $173 for a CGC 9.8.
#4 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #365 (Marvel, 1992) This issue features the first appearance of Spider-Man 2099 thanks to a five-page preview of issue #1. This sold 20 copies, had a 7-day trend of 107% and had a high sale of $120 for a CGC 9.8.
#5 BATMAN #89 (DC, 2020) Yep, more Punchline. Amongst these low priced key books, Punchline continues to hold the spot for “new” books. She sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8.
#6 YEAR OF THE VILLAIN HELL ARISEN #3 (DC, 2020) For the past couple weeks HELL ARISEN outsold Batman #89. However, #89 takes the lead this week as HELL ARISEN sells the same amount of copies at 19, yet had a higher 7-day trend of 111% and had a higher sale of $130 for a CGC 9.8.
#7 SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #1 (Marvel, 1993) There’s been a lot of VENOM 2 chatter this week. Along with Carnage (of course) comes anticipation around Shriek, whose first appearance is in this issue. It sold 18 copies, had a 7-day trend of 102% and had a high sale of $76 for a CGC 9.8.
#8 THE UNCANNY X-MEN #266 (Marvel, 1990) Gambit has been moving a little this week with continued rumors of the Ragin’ Cajun getting his own Disney+ series. Nothing has been confirmed. Yet this still sold 17 copies, had a 7-day trend of 113% and had a high sale of $359 for a CGC 9.8.
#9 X-O MANOWAR #1 (Acclaim/Valiant, 1992) John Cena recently tweeted images of X-O with no blurb… giving renewed hope to Valiant fans and causing issues to move. With BLOODSHOT’S damaged box office (due to COVID19) and Sony selling HARBINGER off to Paramount, it’s hard to picture more Valiant content at this point. This sold 17 copies, had a 7-day trend of 136% and had a high sale of $203 for a CGC 9.8.
#10 NIGHTWING #70 (DC, 2020) We don’t know how, but this issue continues to hang in there. It sold 16 copies, had a 7-day trend of 98% and had a high raw sale of $16.
At last, a true top ten. It warms my heart to see what the majority of the public is actually wanting and desiring. As opposed to the snobby monocle wearing Mr. Peanut CGC crowd, who would likely want a top ten consisting of no books made after the Bronze Age.
1st Venom, Deadpool, spidergwen, Harley Quinn they make an exception for ?
Having a show on Disney+ isn’t a good thing, bunch of talk just like the other 20 Disney + Marvel shows that have been promised. Disney+ is a half year old not a single Marvel show has been released, and Coronavirus means nothing is getting filmed. So by the time this shit actually comes out you will have probably cancelled your very limited new content every month streaming service Disney+.
I need to finish Mandolarian but as I was gonna cancel, I found out my 11 year old has been binge watching Lion King and other Disney movies over and over when she’s bored with nothing else to do while we on lockdown. So yeah, I already had Hulu so with the bundle, it was only like a few more bucks a month..
You havent finished mandolarian!!??
No. I don’t watch a lot of TV, if it is on, it’s mostly for the background noise, etc.
I am enjoying D+ (I give it a B-)… I didn’t think I would but so far so good, that and my toddler loves it! I have a feeling when it really gets going and Moon Knight shows what we can expect from a Marvel show people will really get excited. The Mandalorian 2nd season along with MoonKnight should really show why it will be worth the price.
