Welcome to the 4th One Week Later Report for 2021.
This week we’ll cover the books released on 01/20/2020, which was last week (for those having a hard time keeping up with the days being stuck at home still).
These can be books we anticipated getting hot, total surprise winners and perhaps books that got hyped and ended up as duds. Also could be a good list to use when out picking up this weeks books for you Wednesday Warriors..
Last week was not a big week but still a few winners I think in terms of mentioning with a few going for some decent cash, if you were able to snag low.
Symbiote Spider-Man #1 got a 2nd printing. Mister E is on the cover and I don’t think a lot of shops ordered as they’re likely still trying to sell off the first printings, which you can still find easily at most online retailers.
Wrap a bit of FOMO with what likely is a smaller supply and you got people canvassing the secondary market to pick up copies, paying a slight premium which this one is selling anywhere from double cover to $15 on a good day it seems. So if you’re out and about today at the shop and see this to flip, it might be a easy way to turn your $5 investment into a $10 or $15 investment to buy 2 more comics you might want (or maybe a cup of coffee at Fivebucks.. err, Starbucks).
There was a winner coming out of Marvel for Star Wars Doctor Aphra #7, particularly the Frison Ratio Variant. Seems a lot of shops aren’t heavily ordering this new volume but now with a smaller availability, this has some scrambling to secure copies as any first appearance now attracts speculators as Star Wars is just hot commodity now.
The regular cover is seeing some love as well, reaching around the $15 range on a good day but likely averaging around $10 or so with the most recent solds.
A likely overlooked book was Killadephia #12 Variant B by McFarlane which is seeing averages of double cover at times. Might not be a bad pickup if you see a copy out there you Wednesday Warriors.
TMNT #113 is seeing a bit of love from speculators on the secondary market (1st Tokka/Rahzar), making it average around $15 for the B variant by Eastman. The 1:10 is selling for just around $20 and the A isn’t doing too bad either but I think the winner for this one will be B, if it lasts beyond the initial hype of the book.
