#10 TASKMASTER #3 (MARVEL, 2021) As noted in previous weeks, this issue features the first appearance of Taegukgi. His first appearance is still steadily moving copies. This week it sold 76 copies, had a 7-day trend of 122% and had a high sale of $32 for a raw copy.
#9 FINAL CRISIS #7 COVER B (DC, 2009) THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER recently posted an article about “Ta-Nehisi Coates to Write New Superman Movie for Warner Bros.” The article notes that “According to sources, the project is being set up as a Black Superman story.” This news circulated to every comic book news source, specially citing Calvin Ellis as the most likely candidate. Calvin’s first cameo appearance is in this issue… and it went NUTS price wise. It sold 27 copies, had a 7-day trend of 391% and had a high sale of $600 for a CGC 9.8.
#8 INFINITE CRISIS #5 JIM LEE COVER (DC, 2006) Variety announced that “Angel Manuel Soto to Direct ‘Blue Beetle,’ DC Films’ First Latino Superhero Movie”. Due to this, Jaime Reyes’ first appearance as the Blue Beetle in this issue also saw huge leaps in volume and price. It sold 79 copies, had a 7-day trend of 150% and had a high sale of $499.95 for a CGC 9.8.
#7 GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO #32 (MARVEL, 1985) Deadline announced that “G.I. Joe Live-Action TV Series Centered On Lady Jaye In The Works At Amazon From Erik Oleson, Paramount TV Studios, eOne & Skydance TV”. This issue features the first appearance of Lady Jaye (as well as Ripcord and Blowtorch). It sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 707% and had a high sale of $149.99 for a NM+ raw copy.
#6 BATMAN BLACK & WHITE #3 (DC, 2021) This issue is the first appearance of Mia “Maps” Mizoguchi (Gotham Academy) as the new Robin. It sold 52 copies, had a 7-day trend of 272% and had a high sale of $19.99 for a raw copy.
#5 WEST COAST AVENGERS #45 NEWSSTAND (MARVEL, 1989) So, spoiler! The Vision went all white (well, his body at least) on the last episode of WANDAVISION and fans rushed to sites like eBay to buy a copy. It sold 53 copies, had a 7-day trend of 320% and had a high sale of $309.99 for a CGC 8.0.
#4 MARVEL’S VOICES LEGACY #1 OLIVER COIPEL VARIANT (MARVEL, 2021) This gorgeous cover was all it needed to be to move 92 copies this week, had a 7-day trend of 297% and had a high sale of $32.95 for a raw copy.
#3 ACTION COMICS #9 (DC, 2012) As noted, speculation of WB developing SUPERMAN 2 as a Black Superman Story caused all Calvin Ellis related books to sell. This particular issue is his first full appearance and origin. It sold 85 copies, had a 7-day trend of 376% and had a high sale of $290 for a CGC 9.8.
#2 FINAL CRISIS #7 (DC, 2009) While the B went for more money, this A cover sold more of the first cameo appearance of Calvin Ellis. It sold 32 copies, had a 7-day trend of 1,131% and had a high sale of $500 for a CGC 9.8.
#1 WEST COAST AVENGERS #45 (MARVEL, 1989) As noted, THE VISION turned white. If you recall, the comic version (first seen in this issue) lost all emotions and sense of morality. He was simply binary coding with no heart. Is this how WANDAVISION will go? What about the “other” Vision? So many questions! We can’t wait to see how it plays out. It sold 132 copies, had a 7-day trend of 293% and had a high sale of $1,499.95 for a CGC 9.8.
