CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for 9/3/21

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 BLACK PANTHER #4 | MARVEL | 2005 Very strong rumors of Shuri actress Letitia Wright taking on the Black Panther mantle persist. Her first appearance in issue #2 is officially a $1K+ 9.8. However, fans quickly turned to her 2nd appearance in this issue. Note, there’s a lot of market confusion around this issue and #3, with sellers noting that both are her 2nd appearance. In issue #3, she only appears in two panels as a child during a flashback. So, this 4th issue gets the honor of the “2nd appearance” title. It sold 20 copies, had a 7-day trend of 218% and had a high sale of $48 for a raw copy.

#12 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #337 | MARVEL | 1990 The first appearance of the Sinister Six is already one pricey book. Raws sell for $1K+ and graded books can get out of control when they hit high grades. The new Spider-Man trailer clearly hints at a battle between Spider-Man and his greatest comic foes. So, if you can’t afford the first appearance, then why not turn to the first appearance of their “return” in this issue. It sold 33 copies, had a 7-day trend of 238% and had a high sale of $75 for a CGC 9.8.

#13 NEW AVENGERS #7 | MARVEL | 2005 Speculation believes that we will start seeing the groundwork of Marvel’s Illuminati sooner rather then later. Their first appearance is in this issue, helping it move 39 copies with a 7-day trend of 122% and had a high sale of $219 for a CGC 9.8.

#14 INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1 | MARVEL | 2016 While not on the Top 10 this week, Riri is still SUPER hot. This issues features the first cover appearance of Riri in her (temp) Ironheart armor (which didn’t happen until issue #3). This standard cover sold 33 copies, had a 7-day trend of 123% and had a high sale of $250 for a CGC 9.8.

#15 KING SPAWN #1 GREG CAPULLO SKETCH (1:50) | IMAGE | 2021 With King Spawn’s new release, stores had to throw in some decent cash to get that signed McFarlane 1:250 variant. This left many shops with extra copies of this 1:50… which are selling decently online. It sold 47 copies, had a 7-day trend of 110% and had a high sale of $76 for a raw copy.

#16 BATMAN URBAN LEGENDS #6 | DC | 2021 After holding the #1 spot for two weeks, Tim Drake’s sexual status took a sharp drop in copies after selling 103 copies last week to 33 copies this week, with a 7-day trend of 111% and a high raw sale of $50. We’ll have to see if this comes back later on when the story continues in issue #10.

#17 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011 Miles Mania is still here. In fact, there are rumors that he COULD appear in NO WAY HOME. While that film has enough going on for it, his first appearance is on it’s way back up, selling 21 copies with had a 7-day trend of 141% and had a high sale of $2,655 for a CGC 9.8.

#18 BLACK PANTHER #3 | MARVEL | 2005 As noted, this book is trending due to sellers claiming that this issue is the 2nd appearance of Shuri. However, in this issue, she only appears in two panels as a child in flashback. Her true 2nd appearance is issue #4. However, several collectors still picked up 21 copies and gave it a 7-day trend of 165% with a high sale of $25 for a raw copy.

#19 SPIDER-MEN #1 | MARVEL | 2012 As noted in $17, there are rumors that Miles COULD show up in FAR FROM HOME. With that expectation, collectors are investing in the first time Miles and (616) Peter met in this issue. It sold 32 copies, had a 7-day trend of 94% and had a high sale of $220 for a CGC 9.8.

#20 INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #3 | MARVEL | 2017 As noted Riri is coming earlier than expected within BLACK PANTHER 2. With a fairly complicated first appearance, her first appearance as Ironheart (in the story) is still trending and sold 21 copies, had a 7-day trend of 125% and had a high sale of $56 for a raw copy.
