Every week, hundreds of new books hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday
The dreaded Fifth Week edition. The fifth week is the fifth Wednesday of the month where most publishers put out oneshots (Marvel Death of Doctor Strange) and annuals (DC just about every series) as to not mess up the shipping schedule of the regular books.
Returning Favorites
Department Of Truth #14 – Love the series but more so, every Whatnot show I do I get requests for the book. Quickly flip new issues for a couple of dollar profit, longer I hold them the better they do.

Evil Ernie #1 – I hav e love hate relationship with he character. I love the character and the comics, but hate that Brian Pulido no longer owns him. Anyway, this series starts with a new persona for Evil Ernie.
King Of Spies #1 – Mark Millar so tread cautiously. But this book is already optioned and a Millar’s books are usually well written. he world’s greatest secret agent has six months to live. Does he die quietly in a hospital bed, or does he make up for a lifetime of bad decisions? He’s been propping up an unfair system for over forty years. Now he knows where all the bodies are buried and has nothing to lose when he turns his guns on everyone who ever made a buck creating the mess we’re in right now. Small Press Pick of the Week
Animal Castle #1 – Awesome looking new series from Ablaze. On the Farm all animals were equal. In the Castle some are more equal than others. For fans of the bestselling Stray Dogs and the Eisner Award winning Beasts of Burden comes an animal fable at once familiar and surprising! You may think you know the story but set aside your assumptions, this animal uprising is unlike any you have read! Nestled in the heart of a farm forgotten by men, the Animal Castle is ruled with an iron hoof by President Silvio. The bull and its dog militia savor their power, while the other animals are exhausted by work, until the arrival of the mysterious Azelard, a traveling rat who will teach them the secrets of civil disobedience.
Pick of the Week
Venom #2 – Without seeing the spoilers (as I write this Sunday evening) I cannot guess to which of the potential spoiler worth books could be the one that pops, so, I am going with the old favorite Venom. Cannot go wrong with picking up early Venom books (well in the progression of the series that is). Won’t see new characters most likely but good grab and hold books.
