The first half of the book is told in flashback, when Beilert Valance was a child, and a Stormtrooper he met, Tarl Sokoli, there are numerous panels with dialogue featuring him. The issue flashes forward to Darth Vader showing Valance his heart, out of his body and in a jar, one of the last things that made Valance still human. Anyway, Valance needs to repay Vader for the surgery that saved his life. He needs to take out a much older Tarl Sokoli, now with the Crimson Dawn.
