CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 10/7/22

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 UNCANNY X-FORCE #1 ESAD RIBIC | MARVEL | 2010
We featured a ton of matchups between Deadpool and Wolverine in our Top Ten, but how about a team-up? Apocalypse is on the rise, so Archangel and Wolverine recruit several others to form the Uncanny X-Force, one member being Deadpool! Every member is fantastic at killing, especially Wolverine and Deadpool. The community thinks there isn’t a better team to take down Apocolypse and has picked up the first issue in this series as a result. But this is mostly trending due to the first appearance of the Grey suits. Specifically, Deadpool’s grey suit, which Ryan Reynolds wore in the teaser Deadpool 3 Wolverine reveal video last week. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 164%, with a high sale of $20 for a raw copy with a VF FMV of $8.

#12 WOLVERINE #88 NEWSSTAND DELUXE EDITION | MARVEL | 1994
We covered this book already in our Top Ten, but that was the Direct Edition. Now, it’s the Newsstand edition’s turn! Back then, no one really knew that Newsstand editions would turn into their own little collection niche the way it has. Often commanding higher prices, many didn’t pick them up when available. While the Direct edition is much more prevalent, there certainly is a market for those collectors who aim to attain a copy of this book and the first direct meeting and battle between Deadpool and Wolverine. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 109%, with a high sale of $159.38 for a raw copy with a VF FMV of $63.

#13 ROGUE’S GALLERY #1 | IMAGE | 2022
Per Deadline, “The Iron Man franchise actor’s production label This Radicle Act has optioned Hannah Rose May’s Image Comics comic book Rogues’ Gallery in a competitive situation, Deadline has learned. Don Cheadle has a first look with Industrial Media, and the plan is to adapt Rogues’ Gallery into a TV series.” Falling from the top spot two weeks in a row, we tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 198%, with a high sale of $16 for a raw copy.

#14 STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #24 CHRIS SPROUSE | MARVEL | 2022
We covered this issue in the Top Ten, but we failed to mention the character that graces the cover of this Chris Sprouse variant; Lord Momin. Relatively unknown in the wider community, Lord Momin happens to be a fan favorite and powerhouse among the Sith. Featuring this humanoid on the cover with his incredible duel lightsabers is a surefire way to grab the attention of Star Wars fans, also aiming to acquire the first appearance of the Dark Seekers. We tracked 40 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 50%, with a high sale of $12 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $10.

#15 BATMAN BEYOND THE WHITE KNIGHT #5 SEAN MURPHY (1:25) | DC | 2022
Blight is a major foe of Batman Beyond and has been since his early iterations. What better way to pay tribute than to feature him on the cover of this 1:25 variant from Sean Murphy? The new look for Blight is stunning, with his bright green contrasting amazingly with the black background. Batman Beyond fans are gobbling up this storyline for a good reason, and so is this rarer variant. We tracked 26 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 65%, and had a high sale of $30 for an NM raw copy with an NM FMV of $21.

#16 THE INCREDIBLE HULK #449 | MARVEL | 1997
Losing a bit of steam and landing on our Runner-Up list, this book is still doing well. While Deadpool and Wolverine are taking up all the headlines, many collectors are still looking to acquire the first appearance of the Thunderbolts, even though this team differs significantly from the MCU roster. Nevertheless, this book is moving quickly! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.6 and an NM FMV of $100.

#17 WEST COAST AVENGERS #46 | MARVEL | 1989
Mr. Immortal debuted on the last episode of She-Hulk, which sent speculators searching for his key appearances. This is not only his first appearance but also the first team appearance of the Great Lake Avengers, of which he was a member. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 111%, with a high sale of $43 for a CGC 9.4 and a raw VF FMV of $12.

#18 HULK #1 | MARVEL | 2008
Red Hulk is back on our lists after rumors began circulating that Harrison Ford could replace the late, great William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross as the leader of the Thunderbolts. The community was left in limbo when Hurt passed away, figuring that Marvel would move in a different direction out of respect for the actor. They may be pivoting entirely, and fans are picking this book up in anticipation of an announcement that could come in the future. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 125%, with a high sale of $265 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $57.

#19 HARLEY QUINN 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 STANLEY ARTGERM LAU FOIL (1:50) | DC | 2022
Harley Quinn is one of the most popular characters at DC, and Artgerm is a highly sought-after cover artist. Combine those two with a shiny, hard-to-find 1:50 ratio anniversary cover, and you have gold (or chrome)! This 30th-anniversary cover captures the femme fatales Harley and Ivy, and the captured Batgirl in the corner panel is a fun addition to this fantastic cover. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 99%, with a high sale of $100 for a raw copy and a raw NM FMV of $45.

#20 EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #4 HELEN CHEN DESIGN (1:10) | MARVEL | 2022
You know the sentiment of the community. If there is a new first appearance of a Spider-centric character in a book, the community usually moves to pick it up. This book is still pretty new and features two first appearances in Sun-Spider and the Spinstress, which has collectors moving to acquire. This 1:10 from Helen Chen features some excellent variations to a Spintress costume, vibrant on a white background. It also features the first disabled Spider character in Sun-Spider, a welcome inclusion to the lexicon. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 101%, with a high sale of $15 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $12.
