CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 11/25/22

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
After it was announced Daniel Kaluuya would be voicing Spider-Punk in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse, Spider-Man 2099 saw an uptick in sales as well. Fans first caught a glimpse of the futuristic wall-crawler in an end-credit scene of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse and since then have kept their eye on this epic 90’s first solo title. This week we tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 173% and a high sale of $29 for a VF raw with an FMV of $22.

#12 WOLVERINE #1 | MARVEL | 1988
Fans continue picking up the first issue in Wolverine’s first ongoing series as the use of the word ‘mutant’ continues to cause a stir. While a clawed man was casually mentioned in She-Hulk, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has reached a much broader audience. When most hear ‘mutant,’ they hear Wolverine, as he is arguably the most identifiable of them all. Anticipation for his arrival into the MCU is palpable. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 102%, with a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $57.

#13 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
Spawn ebbs, Spawn flows. Don’t expect a lot of time to pass before this book pops up on one of our lists. It helps that it’s everywhere, and new and old collectors continue to consider it a must-have for the PC. We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 103%, with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8. An FMV for a raw NM copy is $28.

#14 INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #9 | MARVEL | 2016
The first appearance of Riri Williams as Ironheart sees continued success after her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Disney has big plans for Riri, with an upcoming Disney+ series looking to explore the character further. It will be interesting to see how they go about it as she carries the legacy of Tony Stark on her iron shoulders. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 82%, with a high sale of $332.76 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $87.

#15 THE INFINITY GAUNTLET #1 | MARVEL | 1991
The community is still mourning the loss of George Perez, with many opting to pick up some of his most famous works in remembrance. Not to mention, this cover is one for the ages, and the storyline is too. One that will be hanging over the MCU for the foreseeable future. We tracked 10 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 172%, with a high sale of $210 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $17.

#16 SPAWN #9 | IMAGE | 1993
This book features the first appearance of Angela, debuting in Spawn before eventually migrating to Marvel as a sister of Thor. Todd McFarlane’s Spawn movie is slowly moving forward with new writers, and the MCU is a behemoth. The community sees the opportunity. We tracked 14 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 121%, and had a high sale of $85 for a CGC 9.6 with a raw NM FMV of $12.

#17 HULK #1 | MARVEL | 2008
Ole Harrison Ford is still kickin’ and will soon make an appearance in the MCU after being cast as Thaddeus Ross. With the loss of William Hurt, Marvel had to make a tough decision. The fandom was pleased with their choice, moving to pick up the first Red Hulk before that came to fruition. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 97%, with a high sale of $341.99 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $79.

#18 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
Those reading this know why this book holds weight, why many have it in their collection, and why more aim to acquire it. This is arguably the most iconic depiction and origin of a costume in all of comics. Not only that but a costume that later becomes an iconic character in Venom. We tracked 14 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 91%, with a high sale of $700 for a CGC 9.8 and a current VF raw FMV of $168.

#19 X-MEN #4 | MARVEL | 1992
The community loves Omega Red, and he is a popular part of the comic fandom fans have been dying to see appear on the big screen. While his first appearance has dropped dramatically since the comic boom, fans still show this title some attention as his popularity ebbs and flows. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 114%, with a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $24.

#20 LOBO #1 | DC | 1990
The love for Lobo continues! He has some big wigs in his corner at DC, as Jason Mamoa wouldn’t deny he would like to play the character. Follow that up with Co-CEO James Gunn posting a picture of Lobo to his Mastodon (a decentralized social media service) account, and you have some market movement. The community continued picking up Lobo’s first mini-series and first appearance. We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 112%, with a high sale of $195 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw VF FMV of $11.

  1. Omega Red 1st appearance is in X-Men #1 with the Wolverine and Cyclops cover. The centerfold says “Things to Come”. It shows Omega Red as something that is coming. Pick up a Newsstand version of you can before this is “A Thing”!

    1. I should qualify this, so people don’t tear me apart, 1st appearance in comics. It doesn’t name him and he doesn’t speak and he’s not a part of any story. But he is pictured front and center. Shocked how no one cares yet Omega Red is a popular character.
