Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday
Hey Wednesday Warriors. Yet another small week.
New #1’s
Avengers War Across Time #1 – Thor! Iron Man! Captain America! Giant-Man & the Wasp! The classic Avengers against the Hulk on the streets of New York! It’s the beginning of a showdown with Kang the Conqueror that will span the centuries!. Regular cover is sold out at both Midtown and TFAW.
Black Cloak #1 – New Image series. Blade Runner style mixes with SAGA-esque drama in a delectable fantasy/sci-fi blend as two Black Cloaks try to solve the murder of a beloved prince in Kiros, the last city in the known world, before his murder tips the city into war.
Nemesis Reloaded #1 – Most covers sold out at Midtown and TFAW. Mark Millar’s evil Batman Archetype character returns for a new series
Spawn Unwanted Violence #1 – Todd McFarlane and Mike Del Mundo Spawn miniseries.
Notable Reprints
Flash #123 Cover C Facsimile Edition – Reprints the classic Flash of Two Worlds story, which introduces the Golden Age Flash to the Silver Age.
Harley Quinn #24 2nd Ptg Design Variant – 2nd Print design variant with the Harley Who Laughs on the cover.
Incredible Hulk #1 Facsimile Edition New Ptg – Facsimiles are getting reprinted. This is a new printing of the IH #1 Facsimile. These exact replicas are worth picking up. Prices on the 2019 print sell for $15-$25.
For the Cover
Daredevil #7 Frank Cho Classic Homage Cover – Sweet christmas, Frank Cho is more known for his cheesecake, but this is a great cover.
Ghost Rider #10 Phil Noto Classic Homage Cover – This is just another great homage cover.
Miles Morales Spider-Man #2 Stephanie Hans Classic Homage Cover – This is a double whammy as it features a great homage cover plus the new character Rabble.
Moon Knight #19 David Nakayama Classic Homage Cover – another knock out homage.
One to Watch
Amazing Spider-Man #17 – First appearance of a new character named Rek-Rap, aka Parker spelled backwards, this looks to be a Venom/Spider-Man mash up (spoilers tonight). Needless to say, this could be hit or miss as there are a ton of covers. The 1:25 variant features the character on the cover.
Small Press Pick of the Week
The Ends #1 – As much as I hate the games that Bad Idea plays, the books are good and sell well.
Pick of the Week
Miles Morales Spider-Man #2 – So we circle back to Miles. Several covers feature Rabble. We met her in her non-costumed form in issue #1. Slow week so the winner goes to this one.
