CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 7/7/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 SILK #2 – SAO SAOWEE MENGUITO (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
Silk has seen an increase in popularity in recent years. Her debut was explosive then she tapered off for a while. Lately, Marvel has been pushing tons of Silk appearances and features her more often. As her popularity rises, so will the desire for amazing covers like this one. This comic is more desirable because it is a retailer incentive, making it harder to find. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $76.28 for a raw copy with a current raw NM FMV of $58.

#12 HULK #1 | MARVEL | 2008
New photos have been released for the upcoming Captain America movie, and people have been scrutinizing it to death. One of the more prominent clues is that Harrison Ford’s character is in the picture with shredded pants. This almost confirms that Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross will likely transform into the Red Hulk. With this information, fans are highly anticipating the release of any more information on the appearance of Red Hulk in the MCU! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 106%, with a high sale of $359 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $73.

#13 RUINS #1 | MARVEL | 1995
With the debut of the multiverse, many worlds are fair game in the MCU. After all, Dr. Strange introduced us to insanely trippy alternative versions of the MCU universe. In the comics, one of these worlds is a dystopian setting where chance happenings lead to a world of disaster and horrors. This book is the first part of a two-part series and sets up a darker world. Is this a possibility for future MCU worlds? No rumors have confirmed this yet (but it does sound perfect for a What If? episode)… We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 181%, with a high sale of $55 for a raw copy and a current NM raw FMV of $44.

#14 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
This book has been consistent on our list since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. There’s not much else to say; this is a modern-day grail as it features the origin of the alien symbiote that spawns Spider-Man’s black suit (and eventually Venom). Every few weeks, there’s a strange surge of sales, like this week’s traction of 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $740 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $193.

#15 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #10 | MARVEL | 2014
Spider-Punk was nearly out last week, sitting at #20! Instead of falling out of our lists, it jumped five spots! We have been covering Spider-Punk since the release of Across the Spider-Verse, and he continues to be a popular buy. We’ll wait until next week to see if he continues to cling on! His first appearance has sold 18 copies, at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $255 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $71.

#16 SHE-HULK #3 | MARVEL | 2004
Spider-Boy has officially revealed his identity to his readers. His name is Bailey Briggs, and he has a history in Marvel Comics. Bailey Briggs was a murdered engineer who became a ghost for most of his story. It is unlikely that this Briggs is directly related to the Briggs that has become Spider-Boy. Nevertheless, fans are buying up his first appearance hoping that the Briggs name is significant to the Briggs that eventually becomes Spider-Boy. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 108%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 and an NM FMV of $30.

#17 WOLVERINE #1 | MARVEL | 1988
Wolverine is one of, if not the, most popular mutant in the X-Men roster. While his first appearance may be out of reach for most collectors, his first solo series is well within reach. Additionally, this is a great cover for collectors. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 116%, with a high sale of $435 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $68.

#18 SPIDER-MAN #7 – HUMBERTO RAMOS – 2ND PRINT – VIRGIN (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
While Dan Slott took the time to hype up SPIDER-MAN 7 pre-orders, some people still missed out. When the second print was announced, collectors pre-ordered in the masses. The announced virgin 2nd print helped generate high orders. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 119%, with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $45.

#19 WOLVERINE #1 | MARVEL | 1982
This issue is one of the most iconic Wolverine covers, recognizable to collectors everywhere. However, this book is also the first cameo appearance of Yukio. Yukio and Negasonic Teenage Warhead were quick fan favorites in Deadpool 2. As we continue to learn about Deadpool 3, there is confirmation that the two mutant teens will return to the silver screen and the MCU. These two join Deadpool and Wolverine (now maybe Gambit?) as the first mutants to cross the multiverse into the MCU. This issue is a great key to own as we wait for the debut of Deadpool 3! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 93%, with a high sale of $700 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $112.

#20 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 | MARVEL | 1988
Venom is one of the most popular villains in Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery. His first full appearance is a highly coveted collector’s item, and one of the most recognizable McFarlane Spider-Man covers. Aside from its reputation in the comic book world, fans of the MCU and Sony-verse were treated to several appearances by the symbiotic villain. Any fan of Venom has been excitedly waiting for the third film installment of the series. Additionally, the road has been paved for Venom to appear in the MCU eventually. Finally, if that weren’t enough, Venom is set to be a major player in the upcoming Spider-Man 2 video game. Venom fans are in for a fantastic next few years! We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $3,800 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $556.
