CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 7/14/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 VENOM 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 2019
Venom has a fantastic following. And with two successful box office outings, there are currently dozens of rumors running rampant about Venom 3. Everything from the appearance of Andrew Garfield to Venom’s own multiversal saga, involving Knull. What is strange is that there haven’t been any rumors about Alea Bell, the second Venom 2099. Despite that, sales of this issue (her debut) have taken off. The last we saw of Bell was in SPIDER-MAN 2099: DARK GENESIS 5. Perhaps there’s news out there that we haven’t seen yet… Nevertheless, we tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100% with a high sale of $115 for a CGC 9.8 and a current NM FMV of $15.

#12 THE SICKNESS #1 | UNCIVILIZED COMICS | 2023
It’s fair to say that this has been the top indy comic of the past month. Even with all the hype behind Spider-Verse, this comic held on tight in our top lists. It wasn’t due to creative marketing, multiple exclusive variants, or special key appearances. Instead, it took us back to what comic collecting was decades ago: simply a damn good story. We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 101%, with a high sale of $35 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $21.

#13 MARVEL FANFARE #40 | MARVEL | 1988
Honestly, we’re not sure where this trend is coming from. However, we tracked a burst of sales this week, which is usually spurred by speculation or in-story comic events. According to the official Marvel page, this book is the first appearance of Josie and Eric. Who, you may ask? Well, in reality, they’re just one-off side characters and it’s unlikely that these appearances are what’s driving sales. However, this issue features a second story where Storm meets up with Mystique and is warned of a new weapon that can strip mutants of their powers. This is later revealed to be the Neutralizer gun created by Forge, who calls it the worst weapon he ever created. It’s also known as one of the most powerful weapons in all of Marvel. It originally stripped Storm of her powers in the ‘80s and played a role in multiple X-Men storylines, including Hickman’s Powers of X and House of X. It may not be clear why, but something’s helping it spike. We tracked 33 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 74% with a high sale of $15 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $11.

#14 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
Spawn is back and with good reason. It looks like the Spawn movie is in production and even has an estimated release date! While that date is some time in 2025, fans are already on high alert for any more news. We tracked 40 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 83%, with a high sale of $216 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $34.

#15 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011
Miles Morales might have fallen off of the top ten list, but he’s still a top seller! There’s not much else to say that we haven’t said before… Miles is a superstar! We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 95%, with a high sale of $1,995 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $456.

#16 THE NEW MUTANTS #98 | MARVEL | 1991
Are you ready for the Deadpool hype?! The movie production is in full gear and so is the anticipation! Expect this issue to make many more appearances on our top lists as news of the Deadpool movie continues to hit the socials. Have you seen the latest set photo?! We tracked 14 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 139%, with a high sale of $1,501 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $415.

#17 AMAZING FANTASY #1 | MARVEL | 2004
Isabela Merced has joined the cast of the upcoming movie Madame Web and rumors have been going around ever since. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans have already assumed that Isabela would be playing the female heroine, Anya Corazon (aka Araña, aka Spider-Girl). These rumors have been driving interest in her first appearance. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 136%, with a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $34.

#18 VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR #4 | MARVEL | 1993
As mentioned earlier, the rumors for Venom 3 have been spreading across the socials but there’s been nothing officially announced by Sony. One of the more prevalent rumors is that of Knull being one of the main villains. The rumor states that due to the power of the symbiote god, Venom enlists the help of other symbiotes like Phage, Lasher, Riot, Agony, etc. All of which appear for the first time in this issue. If this is true, this issue could end up having more significance than it has before. At the moment, everything is simply an unsupported rumor. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 96% with a high sale of $97.95 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $25.

#19 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
The origin of the symbiote is a modern-day grail for most. It’s the debut of the fan-favorite black suit Spider-Man. It’s also the origin of the symbiote that eventually becomes Venom. This book is a constant resident in our top lists and sees a resurgence of sales whenever we get news of Spider-Man, Secret Wars, or Venom. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 88%, with a high sale of $490 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a raw NM FMV of $233.

#20 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #10 | MARVEL | 2014
A couple of weeks ago Spider-Punk sat at the bottom of our top 20 list. Last week he jumped to #15 and now he’s back at #20. His appearance in Spider-Verse was short but an immediate fan favorite. Perhaps we’ll see another rise up the charts when we get news of the next movie installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse. In the meantime, his first appearance has sold 18 copies, at a 7-day trend of 90%, with a high sale of $239.95 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $61.
