#11
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #26 – GABRIELE DELL’OTTO – BRY’S COMICS (LIMITED TO 480) | MARVEL | 2023
**Please note, it has come to light that the cover art was used previously**
Retailer exclusives are a huge business these days. It’s hard to find a first issue (or key issue) without a slew of variant covers. For the highly controversial “Death of Ms. Marvel” ASM #26 issue, retailer/YouTuber Bry’s Comics offered 499 mystery boxes at $250 for two mystery slabs, one which included either this trade dress variant (limited to 480) or a virgin (limited to 20). There are no raw copies, as all were slabbed. Marvel requires a purchase of 3,000 copies, of which Bry’s Comics destroyed the remaining 2500 copies. The box also included a chance to win six grand prize books. The new low print runs allowed these exclusives to be advertised as the “rarest Dell’otto variant in history,” which definitely created high market interest, discussion, and scrutiny. For the trade dress, we tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 105%, with a high sale of $500 for a CGC 9.9 and a CGC 9.8 FMV of $292. The virgin copies were hitting highs of $5,500 for a CGC 9.8 after a 60-bid auction. That sale does appear to be completed and paid for (note: if a book isn’t paid for or the sale falls through, the sold price doesn’t hit our site. This is another reason why some are delayed hitting our guide as we wait for full final confirmation). Check out Bry’s Comics’ Youtube channel, where he covers all the details (including accusations around manipulation) in THIS VIDEO.

#12 MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #95 | MARVEL | 1991
While not the first appearance of Wolverine’s blue and yellow suit (that belongs to Incredible Hulk #180), this story presents the suit’s origin. This $1 book’s surge in popularity is all thanks to Hugh Jackman finally appearing in his iconic comic-accurate suit. We tracked 42 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 262%, with a high sale of $56 for an NM+ raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $32.

#13 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 | MARVEL | 1988
This first full appearance of Venom doesn’t need much reason to trend, as it’s one of the most wish-listed books on our site (#2 specifically… right behind Hulk #181). Aside from his continued appearance in the Spider-man cinematic universe, Venom was recently confirmed to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man 2 game for the PS5. That convinced many collectors to splurge on this modern grail. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 99%, with a high sale of $3,900 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $590.

#1 HARLEY QUINN: BLACK WHITE REDDER #1 – SOZOMAIKA (1:25) | DC | 2023
Sozomaika has a growing fanbase that showed up for each of her fan-favorite Catwoman variants. This Harley miniseries received its own Sozamaika cover, which hit right before SDCC and was a sought-after variant at the convention due to its aftermarket spike in value. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 104%, with a high sale of $84.73 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $48.

#15 GARGOYLES #1 | MARVEL | 1995
Upon the release of Dynamite’s Gargoyles comic series, their first appearance in 1995 spiked to all-new highs. It’s trending once again due to the recent news of a “Live-Action Movie In Development With Kenneth Branagh to Direct.” However, it’s also reported that all development is on hold during the SAG and writer’s strikes, which have been known to eliminate projects. Hence, this lingers in the runner-up list as we tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 113%, with a high sale of $351 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $57.

#16 WOLVERINE #88 – DELUXE EDITION | MARVEL | 1994
Every time we see Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool and High Jackman’s Wolverine together, this first meeting/battle spikes in aftermarket sales. Apparently, that wave will continue with the significant delays caused by the recent strikes. We tracked a massive 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 95%, with a high sale of $481 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $84.

#17 DAREDEVIL #196 | MARVEL | 1983
This issue features the first appearance of Doctor Oyama, a.k.a. Lord Dark Wind, the doctor known for creating the process and bonding adamantium to Wolverine’s skeleton, creating speculation of a possible inclusion or nod to Wolverine in the stalled production of DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN series. The character did have a cameo in Netflix’s Daredevil season 3, which the MCU is keeping as canon. While this is smart speculation, we will have to wait a while until we have confirmation. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 131%, with a high sale of $70 for a CGC 9.6 and a raw NM FMV of $33.

#18 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011
Miles Morales is the most valuable and beloved modern-created comic character. With two phenomenal animated Spider-Man films and a live-action film on the way, Miles Morales is here to stay. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 112%, with a high sale of $2,020 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $491.

#19 THE NEW MUTANTS #98 | MARVEL | 1991
Everyone has seen the set photos, which are now a tease until the stalled production picks up again. Everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth is entering the MCU proper, and fans can’t wait to watch how it will happen. We tracked 16 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 123%, with a high sale of $1,600 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $398.

#20 X-MEN ANNUAL #14 | MARVEL | 1990
Channing Tatum Gambit rumors are still in motion. The Ragin’ Cajun’s debated first appearance in this issue is still trending and holding on to the last runner-up spot. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 91%, with a high sale of $240 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $52.
