CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 8/11/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 KNIGHT TERRORS: RAVAGER #2 – NATALI SANDERS (1:25) | DC | 2023
Natali Sanders is a name to start paying attention to if you haven’t already. However, she’s been creating comic covers for well over ten years now, going back to her early work (possibly first) on her highly desired variants for Salem’s Daughter: The Haunting (2011) & Legend of Oz: Wicked West #1 from Zenescope (2012) and the Ursa Minor series by Big Dog Ink (2012). Today, after a wave of store exclusives (specifically with KRS), she continues to storm the field of notable mainstream (big two) variants with this cover, one her first retailer incentive covers (she did Gotham City Year One #2 (1:25) in 2002)! We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 163%, with a high sale of $73 for a raw copy and a current NM raw FMV of $58.

#12 DAREDEVIL #11 – RON GARNEY | MARVEL | 2016
If you haven’t heard, rumors are circulating that The Muse will be the main series villain for Daredevil Born Again. While unconfirmed, this rumor has caused a spike in interest in the character’s first appearance. Until we know more about the series, this is one of the first hints at who the villain is that we’ve received! We tracked 27 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 97%, with a high sale of $55 for an NM+ raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $41.

#13 THE INCREDIBLE HULK #2 – LEINIL FRANCIS YU (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
Sister Sadie makes her haunting first appearance in this issue. She is depicted as a zombie corpse (of sorts) with direct knowledge of Bruce/Hulk. However, she refers to him as the “fractured son.” The story is well-paced and breathes new life into Hulk’s adventures. Fans are betting on Sister Sadie being a key player in the future of the Hulk mythos. We tracked 28 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 85%, with a high sale of $60 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $41.

#14 X-MEN ANNUAL #14 | MARVEL | 1990
Rumors, rumors, rumors! The Ragin’ Cajun is still rumored to be played by Channing Tatum. This has been a long-standing rumor that recently got new life breathed into it, thanks to Deadpool 3. The book is still trending as everyone attempts to nab their first appearance of Gambit! We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 156%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $22. Note: Gambit appears in 15 panels on nine pages, speaks, and is called by his name. This predates his appearance in UNCANNY X-MEN #266 (and yeah, it’s even more complicated than that).

#15 STRANGE ACADEMY: MILES MORALES #1 – LEE GARBETT (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
Even a Math Bowl is filled with thrilling hijinx in the Marvel Universe. In this multiversal math bowl, students are just as adept at finding trouble as they are during the school year. In this issue, they get caught in a fight between fairies and the Bowl’s guest speaker, Dr. Erasmus “Equation” Dawnbright. This guest speaker is more of a guest of honor for most collectors, as this issue is his first appearance. Dr. Equation is set up to be an exciting new villain for the Strange Academy students. Fans quickly clamored to get their copy of the retailer incentive. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 135%, with a high sale of $40 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $27.

#16 THE SACRIFICERS #1 – JENNY FRISON (1:15) | IMAGE | 2023
Rick Remender and Max Fiumara put out an intriguing concept; a perfect world for the price of one child per family. The story starts with two rebels set to challenge this new status quo of harmony. The premise, story, and artwork are impressive. This issue stands out on our list because of the fantastic cover by Jenny Frison. Frison typically puts out remarkable covers, and this is no exception. Fans are showing their love for the cover. We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 80%, with a high sale of $22.64 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $15.

#17 WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #1 – DIRECT EDITION | MARVEL | 1985
This issue kicked off a darker series tone for the beloved web-slinger. The colorful red and blue spandex is replaced with a menacing black and white costume. Spidey looks down over his city from his perch upon a couple of gargoyles in one of the most recognizable symbiote covers. Everyone is ready for a black-suit Spider-Man! This more affordable early black suit appearance trended with 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 129%, with a high sale of $165 for a CGC 9.8 copy with a raw NM FMV of $29.

#18 DAREDEVIL #14 | MARVEL | 2016
DAREDEVIL #11 is the first appearance of The Muse, a rumored villain for the Daredevil Born Again series. However, this book is his first cover appearance. Whatever your preference, they both are moving around the same FMV. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 147%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $19.

#19 HULK #1 | MARVEL | 2008
Red Hulk is one of the most anticipated MCU character debuts. Since Harrison Ford was rumored to be in the movie, fans rushed to collect this book. As news fades in and out, the market for this book also does. Fans are likely picking up his book during the Hollywood strikes before more news of the Captain America film debuts. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 101%, with a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $55.

#20 CAPTAIN AMERICA #405 | MARVEL | 1992
This is such a fun comic book to see on our top lists. Capwolf debuted in this issue and was quickly engraved in fans’ hearts. This fan-favorite version of Cap will make its historic return in a future issue of Captain America (and rumors of appearing in WHAT IF: SEASON 2 for Disney+). This October, Stephanie Phillips, and Carlos Magno are bringing him back in CAPWOLF & THE HOWLING COMMANDOS #1 (we see what you did there). After all the recent world-ending, dimension-shattering, and origin-retconning storylines, reading classic wartime-based adventures should be fun! In the meantime, pick up your copy of the Capwofl’s first appearance! We tracked 15 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 119%, with a high sale of $125 for a CGC 9.4 and a current NM FMV of $11.
