Since Covrprice.com came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBay trends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics:
1. Wolverine #37 – Greg Capullo – Virgin (1 Per Store)
This book immediately propelled in value to nearly $100 in the aftermarket, all within a week of its release! The heat has cooled off on it a bit, and the current raw NM FMV sits at $68. Given that it was a one-per-store variant, the supply of this book was limited but still very available on sites like eBay. Some stores reported receiving two copies, one from Diamond and the other from Penguin. Regardless, this great cover was created by legendary modern-age artist Greg Capullo, highlighting his return to the Marvel fold. It’s an excellent pick-up for fans of Wolverine, Capullo, or just awesome virgin covers. We tracked 192 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 89%, with a high sale of $80 for a raw copy.
2. Snatched #1
Snatched is a story that uses an outlandish idea as a metaphor for racism, misogyny, and capitalism, where hair trafficking is used as a more lucrative underground black market than the drug world. This story is an interesting and novel idea. Warner Brothers sure thought the idea was worth a shot, as they are attached to produce SNATCHED as a TV series. This announcement came out last week and has propelled the cover A of this book to our number two spot! We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 216%, with a high sale of $15 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $11.
3. Wolverine #36 – Ryan Stegman – Regular
What happens when you combine an indestructible rage mutant with the spirit of vengeance? You get the Hellverine! Perhaps not the best name, but definitely one of the more powerful entities in the Marvel comics universe. This book was hyped up prior to release, and fans showed how much they wanted it through its increasing value in the aftermarket. If you missed out on the book, keep your eye out for the 2nd print, which comes with an amazing black and white 1:25 retailer incentive cover and is already hitting our top lists! We tracked 44 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 124%, with a high sale of $120 for a CGC 9.8 pre-sale copy and a current NM FMV of $17.
4. Spawn #1
Spawn continues to be one of the most popular books of all time. Aside from being a popular key that continues selling in the aftermarket, Spawn has had tons of news lately. More recently, it was announced that Spawn will feature as a skin in the new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. It’s news like this that keeps Spawn on our top ten! We tracked 33 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 128%, with a high sale of $223 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $29.
5. Dazzler Vol.1 #1
Out of all the rumored cameos for Deadpool 3, the Taylor Swift rumor has taken off like a rocket. While this is still unconfirmed, fans have been buying copies of Dazzler’s first appearance. As seen from her recent ability to connect young Swifties to members of their NFL loving family members, Taylor has massive star power. Despite this only being a rumor, she’s kept Dazzler books in the top ten for the past month! Just imagine if this is true! We tracked 32 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw VF FMV of $8.
6. Fishflies #2 – Jeff Lemire – Recalled- Error
Jeff Lemire’s FISHFLIES #2 was most likely heavily underordered. What makes this issue even more unique is the recent recall/destroy notice. The misprint is found on page 24, mistakenly repeating page #17, featuring an all-black page with the word “CRUNCH.” These are challenging to find, and the aftermarket is pricing them accordingly. Since the initial high sale of $25 for a raw copy earlier in the week, values currently sit at $17 for a raw NM FMV. The reprint is already back at the printer and is expected to be delivered to stores by 10/11. In the meantime, we tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 164%.
7. Wolverine #1
There isn’t much to say about this book that we haven’t said already. Deadpool 3 is responsible for tons of unconfirmed rumors. However, one leak of Deadpool 3 puts this book back at the top. Set photos of Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine were shared online a few months ago, and the internet went wild! Collectors are still trying to pick up this legendary cover of Logan’s first solo series. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 198%, with a high sale of $435 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $58.
8. Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #38 – Bjorn Barends (1:25)
Bjorn Barends delivers hard-hitting covers and has a decent fanbase. Pair that with being on the cover of one of the most popular franchises in existence, and you have a collector’s dream! It’s also fantastic to see the imposing General Grievous get a stellar cover. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 176%, with a high sale of $50 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25.
9. Power Man And Iron Fist Vol.1 #79
Here is a more obscure minor key most people skip over. This issue is the first appearance of Professor Justin Alphonse Gamble, a member of the TVA. Rumors have been going around that this character will make their on-screen debut in Loki: Season 2. With the premier only a week away, fans are racing to nab any key issues they may have missed. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 140%, with a high sale of $20 for a raw copy and a current raw FN FMV of $4.
10. Wolverine #36 – Leinil Francis Yu – 2nd Print – B&W (1:25)
The first print of this book was a hit right off the printing press! Joining that market heat is this retailer incentive 1:25 second print. Pre-sales are generating so much heat that it is already hitting our top ten with tons of sales and massive value-building. In fact, this is the FIRST TIME, a pre-sale has ever landed on the list, and It has a reason to… it’s the first appearance of Hellverine and also sports a dynamic black and white cover by Leinil Francis Yu. We can’t say if these values will hold, but for the time being, this book is on hellfire! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 135%, with a high sale of $70 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $49.
