Dirty D’s F.O.C. (12/10/23)

So I have this Santa inflatable that counts down the days till Christmas…he can go up to 99 days. One of these days I’ll put him out on Day 99, but I’ve found that instead of filling me with joy, as the days count down he stresses me out. (So much to do…so little time…)

Anyway, the year is winding down. And this is also the time of year there isn’t much put out there each week. But there are a few comics worth keeping an eye out for. Let’s run through them.

Just The Fax

I’ve heard there is a hidden gem 1:25 incentive. But nothing beats this cover…foil-ized!!!

New Series

Star Wars Thrawn Alliances #1

Star Wars Thrawn Alliances #1 (Taurin Clarke Variant)

Marvel seems to be on an adaptation kick for Star Wars where they are just taking books or tv series and converting them into comics. That’s fine, especially for those of us who haven’t read the novels. Probably not much spec here, but picking up for the read and covers.

Cobra Commander #1 (Cover A – Milana)

Cobra is getting an “energon universe” series. I believe it’s a mini-series. Not sure where it’s going, and with a 1:250 incentive likely not any spec anyway. But I’m liking the 1:10 cover because it reminds me of “Old Snake” from the transformers cartoon (see below).

Cobra Commander #1 (1:10 incentive Variant)

For the non-Transformers fan, the Transformers Season 3 Episode “Only Human” Cobra Commander debuted and was many’s first exposure to a world where Transformers and GI Joe/Cobra coexisted. The marvel mini series crossover had just hit the stands 3 days prior to this episode, so it was quite the shocker to see “Old Snake” in a transformers episode.

All Good Things…

Star Wars Bounty Hunters #42

When bounty hunters debuted I thought it was a miniseries. And here we are 42 issues later and it’s finally coming to an end. Might be a low print run, for those interested in such things.

Potential New Characters

Superman #10

“The Man of Tomorrow meets the Man from Yesterday!”

Superman of the Wild West? Could be a new character. Hey, gunslinger Spawn took off…

There is also a 1:50 incentive cover as well, for those wanting to take a gamble.

Pick of the Week

I’ll admit this is a bit of a stretch, but it’s a slow week. Alex Ava supposedly debuts in Nightwing 109, but I’m not sure if it is a cameo or full, as it comes out of on 12/20. Based on writer Tom Taylor’s pitch it may be a cameo, and this book could be one of those “first full with first cover”…plus it’s a 1:25. Could be hot. But she is a teen titans villain…soooooo, proceed with caution. If you find a great deal on this incentive maybe worth a gamble.

Parting Thoughts

A light week, which is great for those of us trying to make Christmas magical on a budget! See you next week!
