COVERS
I don’t know what this book or series is all about, but this is a fun homage cover to Action Comics #1. And for that it gets the Dirty D Cover-Of-The-Week honors!
A nice subtle way to celebrate reaching issue #69 with (what I think is) a Basic Instinct homage. What actually hurts this cover isn’t the art, but that there’s a 1:100 Virgin incentive and it’s card stock (FYI, I’m not a fan of card stock…I don’t see the point in paying the extra $1, especially where if there’s the slightest indent it’s basically color breaking).

Crisis is up to #7. Death of Supergirl.
Secret Wars is up to #11.
Here’s an interesting one. Why not just make another printing…it’s not that old of a book.
There are foil NYCC “exclusives” of the first and third printings…but be prepared to shell out $40+ for them…

Up to five printings…doubt it will stop there…As of this article I have not seen the cover art…but it’s “coming soon…”
Image stopped doing the Jason Howard spotlight covers for a while…last week they started up again with some Transformers, and this week they dumped several Void Rivals. My favorite is this Springer cover.
FIRST ISSUES & APPEARANCES

Another Year One limited series. I do like the Janin homage to Batman #9.
It runs through all of us–corrupting hope into fear, love into apprehension, and our strongest selves into our weakest. Its name is doubt, and when a mysterious new villain arrives with the ability to wield it as a weapon, Batman will face an inner journey unlike any he’s ever experienced!
I believe this new villain is on the B cover (his finger might be seen on Cover A.
Behold the birth of Trinity!

Obviously we’ve seen Trinity before, so this is more like an “Origin” first, I think.
PICK OF THE WEEK
THE ALL-NEW … SPIDER-GIRL?!
After the recent status quo shake-up, Spider-Boy’s life really will NEVER be the same again! In light of what happened, maybe it’s time for Bailey Briggs to be someone else’s sidekick. Get ready Daredevil, because here comes The “Boy Without Fear”!
Also in this issue: Bullseye and the secretest secret character of them all.
We may have already seen the character, but this issue we’ll get her in costume (presumably). Could get a bonus first with this “secret” character as well.
This is really a pick of the week by default. Not much else going on. It’s odd that Spider-Girl is not on cover A, but several of the variants have her…including a 1:100. So don’t expect much spec out of this book. Maybe….maybe a long term hold. Grab the cover you like otherwise (I like the Torque variant, personally).
