Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 9/25/24

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What’s up Wednesday Warriors? Another low key week. Not a lot of books that look like they are going to bite, so no “Pick of the Week.” Week’s like this you always have to hope for something surprising to take. Anyway, here is what is on tap:

New Series
Batman The Long Halloween The Last Halloween #1 – Continuation of Tim Sale’s classic holiday themed Batman story

Corvus #1 – Fans of The Last Starfighter will love this one. Daryn Dall is just a normal dude working at a video game store when his life gets turned upside down by some freaky looking aliens, a journey into his own subconscious, and an intergalactic grassroots paramilitary group. Just another day at Game Space!

Creepshow #1 – Third Volume of Creepshow kicks off with stories by Chip Zdarsky and James Stokoe

Goobers #1 – New series from Vault comics that looks fun. Clayton Lowe is headed back to his small Southern hometown. His new friends from grad school are about to meet his old friends from high school and discover that something may have finally changed in the town where nothing ever changes: Pine Cove is ground zero for an infestation of body-snatching alien-bugs. Time to bury the past.

Knights vs Samurai #1 – Sir Charles Ward, “The Dragon Butcher,” has achieved knighthood, acclaim, and is leading a legion of royal warriors on a noble mission, yet his self-doubt and grief haunt him. Venturing to a mysterious island in the Far East, Charles leads his diverse assembly of fighters (including a giant and two clerics) to seek vengeance against savage monsters who ambushed a group of English missionaries. Arrival on the island reveals that the truth may be drastically different from what Charles was led to believe, and the “savage monsters” he will face are actually a regiment of skillful warriors the likes of which he has never seen.

Masters Of The Universe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtles Of Grayskull #1 – Turtles and He-Man crossover.

Missionary #1 – Bryce Hunter is a devoutly religious man whose faith is shattered when he catches his wife being…Intimate with an Elder from his church. This harrowing event sends Bryce spiraling into the hands of a demonic entity named Uvydus. Instead of rejecting possession, Bryce ACCEPTS Uvydus. Bryce wants to learn to be “bad” and Uvydus wants to be “less than completely evil.” But before Bryce can use this new partnership to finally live a little, the world’s greatest Exorcist sees Bryce as his greatest challenge. But that’s not even the worst of it as a murderous group of demons breaks free from Hell and threatens to re-shape earth into a kingdom over which they rule! An action-packed story that features demons, gun battles and a friendship for the ages.

Spawn Violator Origin #1 – New series focusing on the origin of Spawn archenemy, Violator.

Woodstake #1 – Vampires and hippies. Issue 0 came out a few weeks ago and was a pretty decent read.

One and Done
Dirt Witch – Just in time for the spooky season, Randal made a terrible mistake. He knew not to play the record backwards, but victims of bullies often make desperate decisions. Now she is here and she must be fed. A terrifying new creature to the world of horror via a tragic tale about the consequences of action.

For the Cover
