Comic Picks of the Week For Delivery 3/26/25

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What’s up Wednesday Warriors? Very interesting week, a big book out this week with the Hush 2 storyline starting out, so tie-ins to that take up some real estate on the list. Some cool covers, lots of great one shots, and some new series to boot, and one book so foul, I have to warn you to stay away. Here is what is on tap:

New Series
Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 – Beyond Mars…beyond physical form…beyond Human Understanding…all that’s left is the ultimate alien: the Absolute Martian Manhunter!

Bitter Root The Next Movement #1 – Sanford Greene’s book Bitter Root returns for the next chapter. This time in 1964, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement

Dooms Division #1 – Tiger Division reimagined under the One World Under Doom storyline.

Far Down Below #1 – In the summer of 1983, teen friends Mike and Brian seek escape from rainy day boredom by exploring Brian’s abandoned family home, a notoriously haunted house. What they find below their sleepy Eastern Pennsylvania suburb will unlock the doors to adventure-and danger.

Universal Monsters The Mummy #1 – I am going to preface this by saying I was not crazy about the art. A stunning new vision of the seminal horror film like you’ve never seen before. Helen Grosvenor is a woman born to two worlds and belonging in neither, forever haunted by a cursed encounter as a child. When unknown voices bring her back to an Egyptian dig site from her past, Helen will unknowingly play an unexpected role in the rise of a monster known only as… The Mummy!

Were Taking Everyone Down With Us #1 – The explosive double-sized first issue! After her mad-scientist father is killed by the world’s greatest spy, 13-year-old Annalise is left all alone in the world. Sort of. Her dead dad’s robot bodyguard is following her around for some reason. Now Annalise has a choice: try to lead a normal life for the first time ever…or seek revenge and maybe overthrow the world order in the process. There was a 1 Per Store Thank You and Ashcan distributed before the release.

Youll Do Bad Things #1 – It’s been ten years since the release of He Came in With a Smile, the true crime smash hit that chronicled the brutal murders committed by the Nursery Rhyme Killer. But in the decade since its release, its author Seth Holms hasn’t produced another title. He wants to write a story with a happy ending, but every time his fingers clack across the keyboard, it always ends in his character’s death. Worse yet? These tales of blood and barbarity that flow so freely from Seth’s mind are starting to happen in real life. Turn the page on this giallo-inspired thriller. This was also the flip side to the Were Taking Everyone Down With Us ashcan.

One and Done
Batman Black & White Launch Party Ashcan #159 – DC offers a Batman #159 ashcan previewing April’s second chapter of “Batman: H2SH,” providing an exclusive, pulse-pounding 12-page sneak peek of the next can’t-miss installment!

The Kids #1 – Every parent thinks their kids grow up too quickly… but not like this. In one bewildering, terrifying instant, every child below the age of one disappears-to be replaced by creatures beyond their mothers & fathers’ understanding. What happened to the kids? Who are these deranged, hyper-violent adults who’ve taken their places? One horrified couple do their best to solve the nightmarish puzzle-but before they can find the answers they seek, they must survive the night… From the Eisner Award-winning writer Garth Ennis and artist Dalibor Talajic comes this horrific, twisted tale of every parent’s nightmare! From Ninth Circle, bringing you the best horror each month.

Ghost Man #1 – This is just one of the bat-s#!t crazy indy books I love. Is he alive or dead? Hero or Demon? With the ability to walk through walls and conjure weapons at will, Ghost Man makes vengeance scary. 44 mind blowing pages on newsprint!

Godzilla vs Fantastic Four #1 – This issue, witness a threat never before seen as KING GHIDORAH descends upon the Earth with the POWER COSMIC as GALACTUS’ newest HERALD! Can the FANTASTIC FOUR stop him from destroying New York along with the rest of the planet? It’s a CITY SMASHING SPECTACULAR as GODZILLA with the help of the SILVER SURFER join forces to stop the world from certain annihilation!

Gold Key Select Boris Karloff Thriller #1 – Looks like it may be a reprint/facsimile of the first Thriller issue. Step into the shadows with Gold Key Select, where eerie tales of yesteryear await. Ghostly apparitions and spine-chilling mysteries entwine in this masterful collection. Let Karloff’s haunting voice lead you through a realm of suspense and supernatural dread. Are you prepared to em

Pooluminati #1 – here are those who hold power, and those who hold the secret power in the world. Those who shape the world around us, who pull the strings, unseen. They are…the POOLUMINATI. Or, wait, no, that’s the Illuminati, so what the heck does the Pooluminati do? It’s TOO SECRET…but WADE WILSON is ABOUT TO FIND OUT! The most elite DEADPOOLs across the Multiverse assemble, and they need the 616’s Deadpools. But will Wade (with Ellie’s help) prove himself worthy of the Pooluminati? And even if he does…will the conspiracy theory they uncover spell disaster for ‘Pools everywhere?

For the Cover

Batman #158 Launch Party Glow-In-The-Dark Cover – Glow in the Dark and Foil. Awesome!

Vampirella #1 Mark Spears Cover – Spears has a couple covers out this week, including a pretty good Green Lantern, but I like his horror stuff best and Vampi is a great choice for his talents. Anyway, since it is Dynamite you can get it in foil and multiple color change backgrounds.

Notable Reprints
Lucky Devils #1 3rd Ptg – Lucky Devils first issue gets a really cool Jenny Frison variant and a black and white 1:25 variant for the same cover.

Marvel Fanfare #15 Facsimile Edition – Classic April Fool’s issue.

Must Haves
These are just good reads.
Ultimate Spider-Man #15 – First Ultimate Sandman

Ultimate Wolverine #3 – Ultimate Kitty Pride and Gambit appear, but wouldn’t be surprised for an Ultimate Sabretooth cameo.

Pick of the Week
Batman #158 – Jeeps Loeb and Jim Lee kick off the second chapter of HUSH. Silence is supposed to make his first appearance, a henchman for Hush.

Drek of the Week
Harley Quinn Fartacular Silent Butt Deadly #1 – No way, no how, you are not going to get me to pay $8 to sniff farts from Harly Quinn. Just stupid, childish, and in a week when they revisit one of the best DC storylines in a long time.
