FINAL ORDER CUT-OFF for JANUARY 26th, 2026!!

Hey there, CHU Nation! I’m sure many of you are likely digging yourselves out from the Winter Storm “Fern” this Sunday…I was for several hours today, and likely will go back out again in the morning and clean up what remains.

Who comes up with these storm names anyway? Fern? Are they still pulling popular names from the 1950’s?

Per MyNamesStats.com the national rank of people named Fern is 1024…or in the 0.4 percentile. For baby names, it ranked 1261 in 2024. But back to the task at hand.

Not as an exciting week as last…but we get some cover buys and a few first appearances (maybe). Let us dive in.

COVERS

Spears is now doing covers for World’s Finest. And starting out with a banger Joker! But there’s more to this book than just the cover, so it re-appears in this list a little later below.

But that’s not the only Spears cover worth a gander this week. Monsters #9 is on FOC as well.

Not sure if just the cover is 3D on this last one.

Haven’t been a Yasmine Putri cover worth mentioning in a while. I personally think some of her best work is when she has solid (or simple) backgrounds, which doesn’t distract from her character art style. Her Rogue variant this week is one of those.

NOTABLE REPRINTS

Probably not going to be square bound (regular cover retails for $4.99)…but a foil cover might be cool. Personally, I’m sticking to reading the TPB’s if I don’t have issue #1 (at least until I see the foil in person).

Another classic Batman 80’s story given the fax & foil treatment.

POTENTIAL FIRSTS

ABSOLUTE POISON IVY SINKS HER TEETH INTO ARK-M! Dr. Pamela Isley has been unleashed from the Ark-M facility with an unending hate and burning fire for revenge on Gotham City, and those who put her in the belly of the beast. When Batman hunts her down, he must survive a labyrinth of leveled horrors, one more gruesome after the next, as he tries to save the city from a monster it created.

Hey everyone…Absolute Poison Ivy is going to appear in issue #17. I’m sure you haven’t heard.

NEW ONES

FIRST YOUR FRIENDS. THEN YOUR FAMILY. THEN YOU. The next epic SPIDER-MAN and VENOM crossover starts here and continues through April! A new super-powered serial killer is on the loose and they’re coming for Spidey, Venom and everyone in between. But what terrible secret has CARNAGE learned, and what does it have to do with Spider-Man?!

Professional hitman Eddie Stallion has messed up. He’s accidentally robbed the Raven, a high-ranking boss of the international cabal of assassins the Menagerie, of which Eddie is a member…or he was. Now with a price on his head, Eddie chooses to hide in the one place everyone knows he’d never go…the small midwestern town of Pluto, home of his estranged father and known hard-ass George Stallion. Looking for safe harbor, Eddie instead finds his resentful father dying of cancer, old friends looking to collect that bounty, Menagerie assassins who have wandered into town, a cancelled newspaper comic-strip creator turned local crime lord, and oh yeah, his childhood first love, too. Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh, the team behind Peacemaker Tries Hard!, present the story of a man-child assassin with some very grown-up problems. As Eddie grows more attached to the people of Pluto, he’ll have to step in to solve those problems the only way a hitman knows how!

New Series under the Vertigo imprint.

Five years ago, the sky turned white, and the world ended. Violet and her father, David, are forced out of hiding and flee toward the ruins of San Francisco, where they believe they’ll be safe. But in this haunted world ruled by ghosts, no place is safe.

GIMMICK COVERS

PICK OF THE WEEK

They are the finest duo in the world–but which world? Forget Batman and Superman–welcome to a chilling tale starring their evil Crime Syndicate doppelgangers, Ultraman and Owlman!

Looks like more alternate world versions of Sups and Bats are coming, sort of like a Mirror Universe, but not a Bizzaro one…but Sups is Ultraman and Bats is Owlman.

So if I’m going to pick one book that may fly under the rada spec-wise, it’s this book. But it may take a while and really depends on whether these characters stick around…could be one-and-done. But I think it may at least be an interesting read.

Their chest emblems are also more pronounced on the Cover C variant.

Parting Thoughts

That’s it. Hope everyone braved the weather ok this weekend. Laters!
