Batman of Baltimore killed in accident

Being a Maryland guy there are several things to be a fan of, crabs, Natty Boh beer, Orioles baseball, Ravens Football, and Baltimore’s own Batman. Sadly, Baltimore’s Batman was struck and killed last night when the Batmobile broke down on a local highway.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) — The 51-year-old man known as the “Route 29 Batman” has died after his was fatally struck by a car on I-70 Sunday night near Hagerstown.

Lenny B. Robinson was checking the engine after his Batmobile broke down when he was struck.

Robinson, of Owings Mills, drove a black Lamborghini and dressed as Batman to visit sick children at local hospitals.

The accident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. along eastbound I-70 west of Big Pool Road. Although Robinson was driving his Lamborghini, he was not dressed in costume at the time of his death.

A Toyota Camry driven by 39-year-old Mark Kartman struck Robinson, state police report. Kartman, of Charlottsville, Va. was not injured.

Police continue to investigate the crash.

Robinson became a viral sensation three years ago when he was pulled over in Silver Spring by Montgomery County police in full super hero costume.
