Hey CHU! Always happy to see my favorite mystery box in the mail. This month’s theme is Villains! Let’s take a look at what Funko and Marvel have up their spandex sleeves:
The big exclusive POP! this month is Morbius. You may get a basic version or a zombie variant, and I was lucky enough to get a variant. I am not very familiar with the character, but I do admire that they are including a character for more hardcore Marvel fans. I expect many fans will not be as excited, but cool they are giving a lesser known character some love.
The shirt from last month was just okay, but this makes up for it. This may be my favorite shirt design yet. Nice sketches of several Marvel villains. (Nerd alert on the art hanging in my office, nerd flag always flying high!)
My wife claims this Loki Dorbz, and it’s pretty sweet. Dorbz isn’t normally my style, but Loki’s giant headpiece makes this one a little bigger and nicer.
The comic is Invincible Iron Man #1 Collector Corp Exclusive Variant. It comes packaged in a polybag with thin backer board, and the comic is in decent shape, but still has some issues. They really need to order a Wizard World Comic Con box to see the right way to ship a comic. Nevertheless, I’m happy to check out this issue.
This is the winner for me! I love Venom! I wish he would have had the big POP! treatment but I am good with this keyring. Venom gets to travel with me now.
Lastly, the box is rounded out with a patch and pin.
This might be my favorite box yet, and I am still easily justifying the yearly cost of the Marvel Collector Corps. I am trying my best to protect my bank account from ordering the Star Wars box, but hard to resist since Marvel and Funko have been doing such a great job. I really liked this box as well. I wonder if there was a ratio to the Morbius variants. Maybe the founders got the Zombie Morbius. Who knows?
There is a full sized Venom POP! vinyl, I believe it was a Walgreens exclusive.
They sent me two boxes by mistake (charged for both) and I got one each of the morbius pops. I’m guessing they’re just 50:50 going by the similar amount of ebay listings. I think the zombie one is going to prove the more popular of the two though.
I loved this box so much…lots of cool stuff for you’re money.
I really liked the shirt design and the Iron Man variant by Tony Moore, but I have to admit I was a little annoyed when I noticed there were two different Morbius designs and I got the standard version, they should’ve just all been the zombified version.
