My pickups of the week, of the year: Marvel Mystery Comics #25 from 1941, low grade reader but attractive and finding it at a LCS was a stunner. I also grabbed a Comico Primer #2 1st Grendel out of the same shop’s dollar bin. Rabbit’s foot indeed!
Damn….. I am a huge Grendel Fan and have a nice copy of Primer #2, but would love to find one for a buck
New suicide squad 18 cover b (dope)
Batman and ninja turtles 3
Batman and robin eternal 23
Doctor strange 6
Spiderman deadpool 3
Tommy 1
Maybe Guardians of the galaxy
Is there any spec potential in the Dawn of justice variants? If so, what if the Batman V Superman movie sucks what is that going to do to the covers?
I just think some of them are cool remains to be seen how they are going to do long term. Movie could stink.
This is my lightest week that I can remember in years. There is one, count ’em, ONE comic I’m wanting to get this week. That comic? Why, it’s the 5th issue of, “The Vision,” one of the best books currently coming out. Maybe next week will have a deluge of books I want, as happens sometimes after a light week?
I’m liking The Vision, too. It’s very unique compared to everything else Marvel puts out. Surprisingly, I bought & have already read this week’s Mockingbird#1 (surprising in itself, because I rarely get around to reading my books right away, lol), but it was nothing like I expected at all. It’s a very intuitive story, and promises an unfolding set-up over the first 5 issues to fill-in-the-blanks of the mystery set up in the first issue. The issue is primarily about Super Hero Healthcare. You’d never know it from the cover.
Have you guys seen this? Spider-man 129 REPRINT is going to go for over $100 on EBay! Is this book really that hot or do these budders think they’re getting the “real deal”!?!? Wow.
Look at this on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/391397255084
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 129 1ST PUNISHER CGC 9.8 WORTHY UNCIRCULATED MINT MOVIE KEY
Well, Punisher is in Daredevil: Season 2……..
So that helps……..
I have seen the reprint mislabeled and go for over 100 and labeled correctly and go for over $100 and seen copies go for under $10… Odd.
That’s a bit pricey but like Kyle said Daredevil is back on soon and it looks like they are doing Punisher right for a change! With higher grade copies of the original out of many collectors reach and even mid grade copies selling for many hundreds the reprints are looking like a good alternative for all the new Punisher fanatics that his appearances on the show will likely create! The reprint I got was Marvel Tales #106 from 1979. Paid $20 about a month ago for a solid 9.2. I thought I paid on the higher side, but that might not be the case now. Time will tell. Not only is it the first re-print of ASM #129 (that I know of) it is also a bronze age book that is tough to find in higher than VF. I’m sure there are some local comic shops out there that have older back issues where this might be in the boxes at good prices! Another alternative might be Marvel Tales #209. That reprints ASM #129 as well but has a new cover by Mike Zeck. Pretty cool cover as well! Still cheap! Not sure how these reprints will do when DD season 2 starts and Punisher makes his debut. I would think the older ones would have the better shot at becoming more sought after once people know what to look for…but I could be wrong. I don’t remember Marvel Tales having particularly high print runs back in the day either. Anyone know those print runs by any chance?
This is my first week with 2 books yay for me lol.
Disney Princess #1 ( for the wife)
Lantern city #11 ( 1 more book then it’s over)

Gambit (2012) #1-3
New Mutants #88 ( 2nd Cable apperance)
What the?! #20 (1st Pork Grind)
Amazing Forest #1
And I only spent $130 or so. So goin to look for a good copy of Amazing spiderman 298 & 299. Since 300 is way pass my budget right now.
Don’t forget (if you didn’t know already) Cable was first introduced in Marvel Age #82 (one illustration) and had a Cameo in New Mutants #86. Both only had brief showings but they did come before #87…Still not too expensive if you haven’t gotten them yet.

Still missing midnighter #9 and #10. I LOVE midnighter. Got a framed custom sketch (Seeley) of him and Grayson having a staredown up on my wall. My local shops are not ordering them. I keep asking, but I already know how this ends. I’ve played it over a million times in my head. Their move.
Was able to snag the armored batman suicide squad variant at cover.
My polybagged books were full colour for action comics and spotlight for the other two. Not even trying to make sets.
Since Midnighter is cancelled in a few months due to DC Rebirth, a lot of smaller stores have just stopped carrying it since they figure there is no long-term future for the book; they’d rather get their customers interested in picking up other books that will continue. That’s an insult to existing customers who are picking up the book, though. Especially when they’re asking for it. A lot of people say the book went downhill after #6, but I actually like it better now. I’m hoping Midnighter will be showing up in the new Nightwing book, since he’s already been so closely-tied to Grayson.
Has anyone else had a bad experience ordering comics from ComicXposure.com? They have some cool variants and I know they’ve been featured here at CHU a couple times.
However, they have been extremely unreliable in filling orders. At least three different times I received shipments of comics from them where one or more comics I had paid for was simply missing. And even worse, I placed some large orders when they had some sales around Black Friday last November, and those orders have simply never been sent to me (though my credit card was charged four months ago). I’ve called and emailed their customer service — usually I can’t get ahold of anybody, but the one time I did, they said they were “working on it” and then never got back to me.
I’d strongly advise the rest of you to avoid that site like the plague. I am out literally hundreds of dollars and wondering if I’ll ever see the comics that I paid for.
I hear similar stories from other people. So I would definitely stay away from them.
There’s a LCS near me that gets piles of all of their variants and I do mean stacks of them, so A) they seem to make sure that stores have them before actual customers and B) they aren’t rare by any means
Sorry to hear that. I’ve only ordered from them a couple of times with no problems, but they were small orders. If issues such as yours is commonplace the store will eventually fade from everyone’s radar before long. Here to hoping they fix these problems.
I’ve had ongoing problems with them myself, and have been in contact with many others facing the same issues, to various extents. My troubles date back to July 2015 that they still owe me books from. I have seen others as far back as May 2015 with problems still unresolved. My problem is, I still kept buying from them because I was continually reassured that they were accumulating the missing books that they owed me and seeking out the ones they needed to replace, and supposedly had all of them ready-to-go by the end of October. I placed two new orders at the end of November in good faith, when I was told that all of the missing books were being shipped out that very week. I got burned, big time. It got to the point where they owed me 82 books. Both from books missing from past orders, and from orders that went completely unshipped. I emailed them every other week for a while, getting no reply. When I finally threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau in the title of an email, they responded within Minutes. They actually told me they have been DELETING THEIR INBOX AND NOT READING ANYONE’S EMAILS BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS COMING IN AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH THEM. So even if you have been emailing them, they have No Record of your complaint because the emails have been deleted. You need to keep emailing them constantly, and send multiple copies of the same message; and even then, you may still get ignored. The first week of February, when I mentioned the BBB, they promised to ship out everything they owed me. They gave me a tracking number. And the tracking number sat there for weeks, only showing that postage was printed, but it was never given to the carrier. After 3 weeks, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. As soon as the BBB sent me an email saying that the information had been forwarded to the business, the package was suddenly given to the carrier. When I received the package, it contained only about 20 books from the most-recent 2 unshipped orders, and that was it. So even if they were just filling those 2 orders, they didn’t even come close to shipping those orders In Full. They just don’t care. As much as they state in public that they are running smoothly now, they are not. They will continue to ship orders with missing books. Sometimes Less Than Half of what you ordered is in the box. And they do not deal with their outstanding problems. From what I see online, at least a dozen people have filed with the Better Business Bureau, and a few people have forwarded their complaints to the NY Attorney General’s Office for investigation. I’d encourage you to do the same, as it seems to be the only way to get them to take action. If you search Facebook, there is a page called “ComicXposure Exposed” that just got started. It is a place where others are talking about their experiences with ComicXposure. ComicXposure constantly deletes posts from their Facebook page to hide their misdeeds, so when you post your experiences there, they will be Wiped Out so no one sees them. In my situation, after receiving that last package, I sent them several emails and eventually got a reply where they basically admitted that they NEVER had all of those missing books from July to November that they promised they had ready to ship me back then, and that they do not have the books needed to fill the orders placed in November, either; so I need to come up with an alternative resolution. The ball is now in my court. I need to spend some time figuring out what all they owe me, and the Real Problem is that they refused to refund the books in the past because they promised they were shipping the books to me. Now, those books are either sold out or have gone way up in value compared to the month I bought them from ComicXposure. The whole thing is a horrible experience, and they clearly do not give a damn about their customers or have any business sense whatsoever. The emails they end are rife with typos and have no tact. They also don’t seem to know that Lying to Customers is a sure way to make customers Never Trust You Again.
I’m hoping my issue gets solved amicably now that the BBB is involved; I will take additional steps if necessary; but even if my problem is resolved, I still feel for everyone else who is in the same boat. They really need to rectify ALL of their outstanding issues, not just the ones who are taking extreme actions after 8 months and many orders. And they need to stop deleting their inbox. If they supposedly have a full-time customer service representative now (which they previously mentioned Right Here On ComicsHeatingUp)… well, I guess that doesn’t mean anything, because they’ve said a lot of things right here on CHU that were not true…
Wow, sounds like this is a consistent pattern of behavior on the part of ComicXposure. Some partial shipments, some shipments completely unfilled, and little to no customer service. Sounds like they maybe even intentionally stall for time until the chance to file a complaint with Paypal has expired. I’m going to file a dispute for every order they haven’t filled.
Yeah. My earliest orders were already too fargone to contact Paypal. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt; I thought I was doing the decent thing, considering all of the problems they were having; but nothing ever changed, and I just kept seeing the same stories reiterating the same promises. I wanted the books I paid for; after all this time they do not have the books I paid for even though they previously said otherwise; so I am trying to come to a similar non-monetary resolution. Based on the overall situation, I don’t even think they have the cash on-hand to refund all of their customers if everyone suddenly demanded a refund. I think they are running on fumes, plates spinning in the air, and they are using new sales to generate funds to keep themselves going, but still not able to cover all of their outstanding debts, and they’re hoping they make it through to the other side. The problem is, they could very well break even someday and still end up going under, because they will have wronged So Many People that their reputation will lose them sales in the future. I spent a lot of time working up a detailed response to them yesterday, taking care of the “ball in my court” I previously mentioned. Now I am waiting on a response.
same here! haven’t gotten any replies to my several emails. tracking # never got any further than “shipping label printed.” i’d ordered from them several timea b4 without a problem, but months of ignored inquiries is ridiculous n rude. i’m definitely not giving up on getting my money back, tho. any suggestions on what i should do next? thanx in advance.
Hi. As you may have read in my previous comments, they had been deleting their inbox without reading or responding to any emails because they were overwhelmed. The whole thing was a lot of stress, and I still didn’t get what I ordered, but the situation was recently finally resolved satisfactorily. I just had to open a case with the Better Business Bureau for them to finally take action. They didn’t have any of the 82 books that they owed me, so they had me choose substitutions for all of the books, and threw in some extra variants on top of that. From there it was still nearly another 2 months to get it all sorted. The first shipment they sent me did not have all of the books I had chosen, so I had to contact them again, and they sent the remainder. One book was still missing in the end, but I let it go. It wasn’t worth the continued stress. It had already nearly been a Year since the earliest missing books, lol. Even though I didn’t get the books I ordered, some of which had gone up in value since I had ordered them, and I opted not to buy from others at the time since I had already ordered from ComicXposure, I am still glad I got my choice of replacement books instead of a refund. A refund would have made the whole thing just a big waste of time; to have basically loaned them a bunch of money interest-free. Your best bet is to open a case with the Better Business Bureau. I think they just do not have the manpower, the funds, nor the books, to address all of their outstanding complaints, so they are focusing on New Orders for Current Books, and just slowly-but-surely addressing a few complaints here & there, to gradually get through them… but that isn’t fair to everyone waiting & wondering & just having their emails deleted for months & months. I hope they get themselves back to normal. They actually were a great place to buy from before all of the problems began.
The Hangman #3
Last Contract #3 Exactly what I expected it be and it’s been good
Legend of Wonder Woman #3: For the wife
Snow Blind #4 Finale of this mini series and I’ve really liked it. Another good one from Ollie Masters
Disney Princess #1 for my 3 year old….No spec’ing for me. It will be destroyed by the end of the day lol
Victorie City #3 I really didn’t like the art from the first 2 books. Really messy and some panels I couldn’t even tell what was going on. I really like the story however. If it was anything longer than a 4 issue i’d probably drop it but as it stands I’ll stick it out since I liked the story.
I did drop No Mercy. I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t like Alex De Campi.
I dropped No Mercy after #1.. it was one of those books where I was like.. “this sucks, this really really sucks” while getting to the last page. The story seemed rushed, needed some slow building.
I really thought the series had promise. It seemed like a cool concept. She definitely has an agenda in her books and I think it really gets in the way of the story. Plus she really seems to draw out her story and it really feels like she’s milking it. She did it with Bitch Planet and now she’s doing it with No Mercy. Flashback issues and issues based on one character that really don’t advance the story. Yeah, I won’t pull another title that she’s writing.
Bitch Planet is Kelly Sue DeConnick. 😉
Ha, good call. I don’t know what I was thinking. You’re completely right.
I dropped Bitch Planet as well. I like KSD but her delays between books/arcs along with the preachy stuff turn me off.
I complained about Bitch Planet when it came out. I stuck with it for maybe 5 issues. Way to preachy and heavy handed. Really turned me off. The scheduling delays were brutal and when she was going to the one off story’s I was throughly annoyed.
Grindhouse was the other book I was annoyed with her on. That’s what I was thinking of.
I never read it. Probably won’t bother either.
I met Di Campi at a signing a while ago. She was signing Archie Predator and Grindhouse which I liked. She is a big grind house movie fan as am I and I started to shoot her a story idea. She copped an attitude and said she “didn’t give a shit since the book was ending anyway” something to do with creator differences. I had her sign my Grindhouse and grabbed an Archie Predator variant. She then proceeded to sign one of the Grindhouse with a derogatory comment towards men and drew farts coming out of the predator. I was pissed. I ended up selling both copies of the books and her level of disrespect turned me off towards her completely.
That really sucks to hear. Such a disappointment when your meet people who are dicks like that. We’ve talked about Grindhouse before but that last season wasn’t great and shouldn’t have happened. She’s on my will not buy list and it makes me feel all the better about my decision after hearing a story like that.
I have met De Campi twice and both experiences I had were positive. She was engaging, answered my questions and refrained from an explicit explanation to a question I had about Grindhouse due to my daughter being present. The second time she was signing the Archie Predator with D Robertson. She was pleasant and nice about signing copies (even providing me with a copy of No Mercy 3 which had not come out yet). That being said, I don’t think I will continue with No Mercy just due to how elongated the story has become. However, I won’t dismiss future books just because her name is associated with it.
Samurai #1 wiped out at couple of stores ..thats a good sign for the book..
Tommy #1 scored a pants down variant
haunted mansion
women of power covers
cammy and chun li variants for street fighter
Got the action figure variant of Haunted Mansion. I really do love it so was glad to snag a copy.
Yeah, same here. The shop I nabbed from only had that and the main cover, about half and half. My other shop had theirs listed for $9.99 for the action figure variant.
Hit 3 shops early today and neither of them ordered enough copies to get the Rocket & Groot variant, but was happy to see Bunker on the shelf. It’s been so long!
I dropped Bunker back in issue 8 or 9 cuz the story was dragging and nothing was happening. It has a good plot, but the story is dragging
Pick ups:
Detective Comics 50 polybag (for the Raphael Grampa cover)
Head Lopper 3 (for the James Stokoe cover)
Spider-Gwen WOP cover x2 (one to give to a friend who is a fan of the Mary Janes)
Descender 9-11 (I dropped this at 7 and decided to pick it back up this week. No one in my area had a copy of issue 8, so my lcs is backordering #8 for me.)
Bunker (I don’t remember the plot or characters anymore, but I met the author at a con and feel obligated to see it through.)
Notes: No store I visited had any copies of Tommy 1, but I think this will go the way of Itty Bitty Bunnies. Two stores had a few copies of Samurai 1, but after looking at the art, I decided not to pick it up.
Itty Bitty Bunnies ..that was slap stick fart and pee pee jokes..Tommy a bit more darker than that lol
I also placed a couple of bids on ebay this week, but was outbid both times. Just have to be patient.
Only got to hit one store today did not feel like driving to multiple stores and picked up.
Batman/TMNT #4
Vision #5
Ms. Marvel W.O.P. var.
The store had a copy of A-Force #3 1:25 for $15 didn’t know if I should get it or not at that price may go back Saturday and get it if it’s still there.
YES!!!! lol go pick that up brother lol
Super light week again;
Rocket raccoon and groot 3 – 1:25
Tommy 1
Beast planet 3
Also, I ordered a copy of Vampirella Lives 2 Hughes variant of mycomicshop, it is a dynamic forces signed edition, signed and numbered by Hughes, raw, graded 8.5. However it was half the price of an unsigned one graded the same. It’s a consignment item so prices set by the consigner but graded by mycomicshop. Anyone know why this would be, normally signed is worth more, it has a certificate of authenticity as well…
Sounds like a pricing error or just plain luck
Bit of both is what I’m hoping Anthony! Do dynamic forces sometimes do reprinted special editions though, that’s the only other thing I think it could be..
Samurai #1 by Titan Comics. If you like the book as I do there is a 4 issue series by Marvel Comics Soleil published in 2008.Low print run.Not much demand but hard to find. The hardcover might be an easier grab.
ASM – I really want to drop but won’t because it is ASM.
Action, Detective, Catwoman 50 – sad when you long for the DC of the mid to late 80’s
Samurai 1 – hope this is as good as it looks
Mockingbird 1 – again, hoping for a good read
RR and Groot – variant Absolutely awesome cover. thanks for the heads up on this
Constantine – I’ve enjoyed this so far.
Hangman 2, 3 – missed the 2nd issue.
Thor – one of the few Marvel books I read and actually enjoy
Massive : Ninth Wave- Loved the original series and find this equally entertaining.
Snow Blind – again, another good series I found thanks to CHU
Dr Strange haven’t read, but I like this book (so far…)
Descender – always a good read
Harrow County – In my opinion, Cullen’s finest work to date
One book I wanted but couldn’t find was MULP. Anyone else have any luck getting a copy?
Got two super awesome Enormous variants. Thanks again Tony! Also picked up Adventures Into Terror #4 & #5. Found a bunch of Defenders comics in the dollar bin so I picked those up. Havent really picked up many current titles. I’ve been going crazy on pch and loving it
Great. Glad you got them. Kevin from Hoknes USA sent them and I meant to send you the tracking number but got lazy and forgot. I have the tracking number if you want it.
