Black Panther #1 pre-sells 300,000 copies

With Black Panther set to make his first movie appearance in Captain America 3: Civil War, his popularity is higher than ever. So popular in fact that his latest book, <A href=”Black Panther #1 (2016), has pre-sold over 300,000 copies.
CBR had the story:

Marvel Comics’  “Black Panther” #1 has already cracked the 300,000 mark in sales the publisher announced today at C2E2’s retailer breakfast.
“To see “Black Panther” #1 reach 300,000K in sales is a testament to the vision of the creative team, and the excitement that greeted the announcement of the series,” Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso told CBR News in a statement. “When fans see what Ta-Nehisi and Brian have planned for the first — and best — Black super hero, it’s going to be the buzz book of the industry.”

I do wonder if there will be a subscription box variant for this book.

  1. This seems like a good, statistical-based reason NOT to speculate on this book, even with incentive variants.

    1. Surprisingly even books from Marvel with large print runs end up selling out and doing well on the secondary market. You never can tell.

  2. That’s very true. I passed on couple of marvel variants in the pass and couple of months later I see the same book on ebay going for 3-4 times the price. Crazy what marvel books can do on the secondary market.
