Each week hundreds of new issues hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 9/21/16:
I haven’t said this in a long while but this is a really small week for me. Not a whole lot on the spec front. That is usually when a book sneaks up on me though. Here is what I am eyeing this week.
Returning Favorites
Demonic #2– I dug the first issue’s look and feel. The story was very engaging. Looking forward to see how this pans out.
Black Hammer #3 – Jeff Lemire’s new series placing lost superheroes on a mysterious farm on the outskirts of an equally mysterious town, which they cannot seem to leave.
Black Eyed Kids #6 – Love this book. Urban legend come to life with the mysterious kids. Just good creepy reading.
Punisher #5 – one of the best takes on the Punisher in a while. Frank Castle is hard as nails going up against a drug dealer whose drug gives the users super human powers.
Book for the 80′ Fans
Revolution #1 – not sure how much of a hit this will be, but Revolution is a crossover of Rom, GI Joe, Micronauts, and Transformers. The really cool thing about this is M.A.S.K. is reintroduced to the world of comics in this issue. I loved M.A.S.K.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Simpsons Treehouse of Horror #22– This and the Simpsons Halloween episode are perennial favorites with me. This one features riffs on GhostBusters and Ex-Files. This is the book I look forward to all year.
The Pick of the Week
Seven to Eternity #1– Rick Remender’s new book. With Tokyo Ghost ending, I will need a new Remender book to fill the void
That’s it for me this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

M.A.S.K. was the bomb.. I still wish I had all the action figures and vehicle toys. I almost had them all I think.
I loved watching M.A.S.K when I was a kid. M.A.S.K was right up there for me with GI Joe, Transformers, Voltron and He Man. Loved my 80’s cartoons.
Yup.. I’m typing this as I wear my Voltron shirt.. 🙂
any you guys seen Jay around?
I really DID NOT like the 1st issue of Demonic. I found it confusing, muddled, and otherwise bad. Different tastes for all though!
