One to watch: Black #3 Uncensored Version

There will be two covers to Black #3 coming out in December. The first is a more tame Censored Version and a second one, and Uncensored Variant, that might raise a few eyebrows on the comic stands.
The book Black is a topical comic that centers on African Americans with super powers. A world where only African Americans have super powers at that. Needless to say it’s “What if X-Men were black instead of mutants.” The first issue starts off with a police involved shooting of young Black teens. So the story doesn’t shy away from difficult topics.
The uncensored version might make some people a little uncomfortable but it definately one to watch.
Here are the two covers:

    1. It is an interesting cover, both of them are, as it is a historical book at derogatory words for African Americans. It is a book done by African Americans so they provide an uncomfortable look at things that are already out there.

      1. The 1st version of the uncensord cover was the “N” word in red on a white backround .Issue 4 has a controversial cover as well

  1. the number 2 issue was very controversial to me. it didnt seem to be on any one else’s radar though. the word is tossed around so loosely by certain people yet banned from other’s mouths. so whatever not really a big deal to me. it will be interesting to see how the book does. is it an incentive book or 1:1?

    1. It’s pre-orderable so I think it is 1:1. However it depends on how many a store will order. Some stores might not feel comfortable ordering them.

  2. I’ve never understood racism. Hate is such a powerful emotion, I can’t comprehend why someone would hate someone else, who they most likely do not even know on any level, just because they are ‘different’. Whether that difference is skin colour or hair colour or gender or whatever. The bottom line, in my opinion, is that we are all the same race, the human race. I do think that this series has a very interesting, topical subject and I am looking forward to reading it. The first two issues are waiting for me in my reading pile.

  3. Since we are talking about racism, my son told me when he found out that Donald Trump was going to be our next president, if I was going to get diported back to Mexico, cuz I’m Mexican. I just looked at him and told him that “NO ONE” will ever take me away from him. (Born and raised in Utah just incase anyone is wondering). He’s only 9 and doesn’t need to see that even our own next president is so racist. It sucks to see that we are in 2016 and people still act as if we are in the 60’s.

    1. It saddens me children in school are being told they, “Should be deported,” or that their parents will be deported. As we all know, hate is learned, not born within us, so I worry about what the children who say hateful things have heard from their parents. I’m glad you won’t be going anywhere, Jesus!

      1. When I was growing up, I was alway told to go back to my country. And that I was a wet back. Kids not knowing that my family originated from Chicago.

    2. Jesus, I’m about as white as they come and I totally dislike the ignorant racist people. I apply Wil Wheaton’s advice, “Don’t Be A Dick!”. It’s really simple solution. They’d hate me as President.. I’d allow more people in with visas, make it an easier path to citizenship, I’d take in refugees.. kick all the white supremacist asshats out.. yeah, I’d be the greatest President ever.. 🙂

      1. I would bring about public executions and rule with an iron fish (yes fish, he’d be bad ass). Military junta would make me president for life. I’d outlaw marriage, for everyone. The good news is there would only be 4 hour work days

      2. Well since Tony is going to rule with an iron fish, does that mean free fishing license for everyone? If that’s the case, I know for who to vote for next election lol.
        Sorry Poyo *cough*cough* lol

  4. woah right off the bat the cover shocked me and makes me feel uncomfortable. However, I love dangerous and provocative art. I may pick one up

    1. I’ve only read the first issue (I’ll be picking up the second one today assuming my store held a copy for me) and was pretty pleased. I mean, it has Jamal Igle providing artwork, so you’re guaranteed a good-looking comic if nothing else!

    2. Good art should give you a reaction or a feeling. Even if it is uncomfortable. That’s why I like horror so much. Even if it scares me it made me feel something. I love comedy too for the same reason.

      1. Totally agree – love it anytime art evokes an involuntary feeling like laughter, fear, or new uncomfortable perspective. Art is all around great on Black.
