Each week Terry Hoknes and I collaborate on video where we discuss the new comics for the week and talk about the ones we think are going to be the winners. Here is this weeks for delivery 3/8/17:

That venomized All-New Wolverine is one I’ve been waiting for since the artwork was teased. Though it looks like my shop is NOT getting ANY of the venomized covers. They said they had to order some weird amount of certain comics to qualify for them. Seemed to be the same deal with the Deadpool and Doctor Strange venomized covers as well with a few other shops I went to in my area. Anyhow, if people are having the same problem as me midtown has them available still.
They are out there and at cover price. These are good looking covers but. It sure if they will pop. Long term growth potential not immediate flips. But yes, that Mattina cover is awesome. I am just picking and choosing. Had the chance to pre-order them all and skipped to just the ones I like.
I’m spec’ing on Grass Kings myself for the indies. Really enjoy Matt Kindt writing and despite Peter Panzerfaust getting Weibe’d long ago, I love Tyler Jenkins style of artwork.
I gave up on Amigo comics though.. I don’t even bother most of the time. Straitjacket was cool but since then, it’s been all meh.. Also, it seems most if not all the books come damaged or their ink smears all over the covers. They need to up their printing press or whoever does it let the crap dry a bit longer before rolling into shipping boxes..
The Hoknes variant series for Straitjacket remains one of my favorite set of covers to date, though I do agree that the regular releases from Amigo tend to arrive a bit beaten up.
They travel over from Spain which is part of the problem. I do love a lot of the horror books el Torres has done though.

Well, it’s not just the damage at times. Seems the ink and paper they use bleeds or rubs off too easily as well.
Oh and as a kid, I think I read almost all of the Hardy Boys books.. so yeah, that Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys is a likely check out for me.
I did as well. Loved the covers on the old Hardy Boys books. However I am going to pass on it.
Yeah, it’ll probably be a quick skim at the local shop to determine if I buy or not.
Another good video. I just recently saw that Marvel is doing an Edge of Venom – verse or something like that, and one of the characters I saw was a venomized X-23, so you never know that cover might heat up.

You guys are great, so informative! Quick question – what are your thoughts on investing in CGC graded comics (key comics) from modern era with ratings less than 9.8, ie: 9.0 – 9.6. Would you purchase a 9.4 signature series over an unsigned 9.8? Thanks! Julian
Hi Julian,
I have had some lower grade Signed and sketched cbcs books do really well. Unless it is a creator I have no access to (dead or foreign) or that I really like, I’d rather have the higher grade unsigned. I do love Signed books and love graded books but don’t always need them to be one and the same.

Great, thanks for your insight Anthony!
I believe the most worthy CGC candidates are high price comics so that certified grading is a small part of total cost. Willingness to pay extra is for less risk. Some collectors value autographs while others don’t.
On an unrelated note. I just got back from seeing Logan, and I thought it was great, a little long but overall a great movie. X-23 was awesome.
I really enjoyed the X23 portrayal as well. I hope that young actress plays the role for the next 15 years.
I managed to get a couple of the venomized all new wolverine and couple of the deadpool, be interesting to see how they do.
