Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is in stores tomorrow. It is another great Donny Cates book beginning to end. Besides the more serious main story, there are some decent laughs from Cosmic Ghost Rider.
More importantly it deals with the aftermath of Thanos dying. And what is to come….
Eros, brother of Thanos, brings together some cosmic heavy hitters to talk about Thanos’ passing, with the body draped out on display. He talks about that mystery object found inside Thanos next to his heart.
And we get to see its true purpose.
Oh great, just a hologram of the mad tyrant… Right?
And listen to him pontificate
And pontificate some more….
But there is more…. way more.
And the final twist of the knife.
And there is one suspect as to who he will take over.
Meanwhile, Starlord and Groot have visitors on their new ship, and explain what happened to the old team.
I guess the talking Groot thing stuck.
Things go pear shaped at the meeting, and the Black Order steal Thanos’ body, sending the gathered into a warp. Several of them end up with Starlord and Groot. The Nova Corp wants them to come quietly.
And we get the backstory of how the new team forms…
Yup, just like that
Someone wants to resurrect Thanos…. Black Order does not think it is a good idea.
And finally, we get to see who is behind the plot to bring Thanos back.

I am looking forward to this book. Marvel does not have a lot of good books right now. Not to mention the 2x a month shipping. I bloody hate it. Expendable income ain’t what it used to be. I Love Immortal Hulk but I would rather wait on the trades. I can count on my hands the number of titles I read from Marvel right now. Cates is doing some really dope work at Marvel. Venom is outstanding. This is going to be a fun read. We will probably get an ‘All-New, All-Different Thanos’ when the dust settles. He will probably look like Josh Brolin or it will be a female Thanos. That is my prediction.
Groot talking is kinda lame. Like how they are tying Hela to Death make it easier for them to do it in the MCU if they were to use Hela again with Thanos.
