Each week, hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that, we pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 9/4/19
New #1’s
Everything #1 – New Dark Horse series that looks pretty cool. EVERYTHING is a gleaming new mega-department store which arrives to extraordinary thrill-and rapidly escalates to inexplicable mania in the small town of Holland, Michigan.
When random hellish fires and unshakable psychic disturbances start to overtake the community, a few-like depressive out-of-towner Lori and a suspicious local named Rick-begin to suspect EVERYTHING and its catalog-perfect manger, Shirley.
Who-or what-exactly is in charge here . . . and what insidious plans are in store?
From Christopher Cantwell, acclaimed writer of She Could Fly and co-creator of AMC;s Halt and Catch Fire, and celebrated artist I.N.J. Culbard
DCeased A Good Day To Die #1 – interlude for the regular series.
Harley Quinn And Poison Ivy #1 Artgerm Covers– Harley and Ivy done by Artgerm. Must haves for me. I am sure the print run will be huge. But still, I do love the Ivy especially.
Legion Of Super-Heroes Millennium #1 – Fully introducing the Legion to the Rebirth DC Universe. They had cameos recently in Superman and Super-Girl.
Absolute Carnage Symbiote Spider-Man #1 – first Human host of Venom is revealed. Venom is hot right now.
Web Of Black Widow #1 – Femme Fatale Black Widow takes center stage in her own book. Tons of covers.
Going To The Chapel #1 – New Action Labs series. While they have not had any recent spec hits, Zombie Girl excluded, this looks like a very interesting book.
Midnight Vista #1 – looks to be a good read. If you like alien abduction stories, this is for you.
Covers of the Week
Section Zero #6 Adam Hughes Cover – This book will probably have a small print run. Obscure Adam Hughes cover.
Berserker Unbound #2 – Andrea Sorrentino provides a pretty bad-ass cover for the second issue of Berserker.
The One Everyone will be Grabbing
Spawn #300 – Big print run, sure, but a land mark issue. Issue 301 puts this as the longest running indy book. First appearances? We shall see.
Reprint of the Week
Spider-Woman #1 Cover C Facsimile Edition – not so much for the spec, but I love the Facsimile editions. Reprints of key books have done well long term though.
Small Press Gem
Soft Wood One Shot – Great homage to Frazetta’s Death Dealer, but on a giant kitty.
Infinite Punishment Escape From Hell #1 – None listed on eBay currently. Going to have a fairly small print run. Fantaco has been a round for a long while and have put out some great horror books.
Big Two Pick of the Week
House Of X #4 – Every issue of HOX and POX have gone on to multiple times cover price. Looking at this one to hopefully do the same.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Something Is Killing The Children #1 – Sure, it jumped up in FOC but is going for well above cover. All three covers are worth grabbing.
The Pick of the Week
Once & Future #1 3rd Print – This is the clear winner of the week. Going for well above cover, slipped by quickly on FOC and may not have been ordered heavily. Grab and flip
Everything #1 sounds suspiciously like and old Stephen King novel. Will have to wait and see.
A one shot soft wood. They should have done a viagra variant edition lol
