Every week, hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 12/4/19.
New #1’s
Butcher Of Paris #1 – New DarK Horse Series centered around a serial killer in Nazi occupied France.
Infected Deathbringer #1 – How Donna Troy becomes infected. The cover just looks awesome.
20XX #1 – New Luna Bro. series from Image. This sci-fi thriller for mature readers imagines a not-so-distant future-a world of norms and syms, divided by fear. Syms, a small percentage of the population with telekinetic abilities, form gangs to survive. But division only breeds more division, and Mer and Nuon experience this firsthand as they become entangled in the often dramatic, sometimes violent, but always complex social landscape of sym gang rivalries in Anchorage, Alaska.
Vampironica New Blood #1 – I have been a fan of the Archie Horror books since Afterlife came out. The B cover on this one is awesome, love the innocence and brutality all in one.
Annihilation Scourge Fantastic Four #1 – A new take on the Fantastic Four premieres this issue. The spoilers will be out later are pretty cool.
Worth Watching
Dead Eyes #3 – First new issue. Dead Eyes 1 and 2 were reprints of Dead Rabbit 1 and 2, the recalled series based on the law suit. There is an incentive variant for this one too that could be worth picking up if things take off again.
Cover of the Week
Black Cat #7 – Just love the look of this cover. Campbell for the win. I think this will be a good long term hold.
Venom 2099 One Shot – Venom in 2099. We get a new Venom this issue too. Wait for the spoilers. But the variants could lead you to the right direction on this one.
Small Press Gem
Angela Della Morte #1 – Awesome looking new Red5 Series. Angela Della Morte works for Dr. Sibelius, the most brilliant mind of the century. Using a new technology, Sibelius Labs are capable of separate soul from body. Using this tech Angela’s soul can get into other dead host and take control of their bodies in undercover missions. But as the souls travels the void to get into their new receptacles, they must elude a tenebrous lifeform. This creature feeds with the substance of which the soul is made. It is the most dangerous predator in this new ecosystem, and its name is: Death.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Kill Whitey Donovan #1 – New book written by screenwriter and novelist Sydney Duncan with an option in the works.
Pick of the Week
Magnificent Ms Marvel #10 – New-ish character named Stormranger. Magnificent Ms. Marvel #5 comes more into play with this issue. (Make sure to check out Mycomicshop first.)
That Black Cat cover is sexy. Campbell gave her a nice butt and he’s never been much of a butt guy, that’s more Frank Cho’s speed.
I like the layout. I think this is Campbell’s best cover.
I don’t really collect Marvel anymore but I might have to buy this one.
CHO draws great butts!
He learned it from the master, Budd Root. He studied under him years ago.
